No surprises here. Buxton needs ABs and Berrios isn't breaking through the mediocrity logjam that is the Twins rotation.

I get Buxton, but am a tad surprised that Berrios isn't up a little longer. True, he wasn't going north with the team this year, but I thought maybe they'd keep him in the big league camp a little longer.

Does anyone know which groups "Each" will be working with in minor league camp?

Eample:   (1)   Now that Buxton and Kepler are sent down to minor league camp,   does that affect who bumps down from group 1 to group 2   (as Seth outlined in article)  ?

They will probably got to the New Britain Chattanooga Group, which is likely group 1.  Not much bumping yet.  That will start when the extra 27 players in the Twins' MLB camp (that is the Rochester roster plus) start to getting cut...

The players who got cut here are AA and high A

ditto, maybe I thought Berrios was knocking on the big league door a little louder than he actually was, but I figured as a result Moli would want a longer look at him.

Although, as starters go longer into games, and with a lot of decisions left to be made regarding the starting rotation and the bullpen, they need to give the innings to other guys so Berrios needs to get his innings in then in minor league camp. Still, thought he'd make it to the next cut.

The thing is that Berrios will not make the Twins.  There is a pretty sizable battle for the 5 rotation spot and they are remaking the bullpen.  It is better to give innings to players who have a change to make it, so they can evaluate them against MLB hitters, than to Berrios.  He will be better off learning to throw to the catchers he will throw in AA as well...

I think the decision had a lot more to do with getting innings for Pelfrey, Milone, May, Meyer, and Stauffer than it did Berrios. There are some pretty critical decisions coming in the next two weeks and Berrios only confuses the situation.

Sano too?  Well TR said Sano would probably be in the next round of cuts.  He needs playing time too and will get more innings down in camp.  The sooner he shakes the rust, the better.

That's some powerful rust.  His two HRs were amazing.  Hopefully we see him up before September.  (I think he only had two - vs. Pirates and Cards)

Isn't Sano on the 40 man? If he gets injured and ends on the DL he starts getting service time.

Correct. The Twins have not formally announced Sano being sent down, though there are reports that he has... There's timing and things like that (that are beyond my understanding). There are as many as 5 guys that have already been told that they will be sent down. That may officially be announced tomorrow, but it could wait until Tuesday as the Twins have a complete off day tomorrow.

The last stats I saw on Sano, his 2 HR's were his only hits in 10 AB's.  He also struck out twice.  Upside, he walked 3 times.  He needs to shake off some rust and get a better handle on breaking balls.

I haven't read any stories on this throwing, so I'm assuming the elbow is OK.

with tongue only slight planted in cheek, yes, you would not want to confuse the issue with a pitcher who was better than the ones in question! :)

Problem is that he is not better now.  Will he?  Maybe (I don't think that he will be better than Meyer).  Pelfrey and Milone have been lights out this Spring.  Berrios not so.  And they got to see Meyer and May who are more ready.  Stauffer is not part of that equation.

Berrios is in Buxton's shoes, pretty much.  2016 or 2017.

I, of course, would like to see him alot sooner than Sept.  More like May 1st, and playing full time at 3rd base.

. In theory I don't even disagree, maybe I should have had my tongue further into my cheek? :). That said, my first thought, and admittedly not my most rational one was what an odd coincidence! The first cuts of camp, included the three players who have drawn the most interest, speculation, and drooling in the last several years of mediocre baseball. A conspiracy theorist would ask, was there a message here to the public? Of course since I am not a conspiracy theorist, I must leave that to others to contemplate!

Even if Berrios is better than Pelfrey or Milone, he's not getting the nod before Meyer or May (and it's hard to argue that he's better than either in March of 2015).
