Vikings Daily Articles at the bottom

As a non-Vikings fan, seeing Vikings Journal article/forum headlines at the bottom of the page in the TwinsDaily forum is super annoying.

 

I'm probably in the minority here as Twins but non Vikings fan, but I thought I'd share my concerns anyway.

I'm more annoyed that football discussion is no longer present on a community forum than which headlines are on the side of the page.  A good portion of us joined here because of a community built before coming to TD, and that community was based on talking about all issues, baseball, football, non-sports, whatever.  I'll gladly take the lashing for being the one to speak up, but I do feel as if the community most were expecting here has been slowly picked away, including removing football discussion.

If administrators are looking for opinions, I'll say that I don't think it's a big deal.  Doesn't seem intrusive to me, and it's definitely much more subdued and congruous with the site than some of the ads that get tapped.  Plus, there's a sizeable group here that I think was starving for non-terrible football communities, so props for trying to fill that demand.  Just one guy's opinion though.

The football discussion exists and your account works for football discussion, the colors on the site are different and the domain is different. That's about it. There's an NFL discussion forum over at Vikings Journal if you want to participate there.

But I'm locked out of commenting during the day due to it being blocked by my work.  It seems the decision was made to go 9/10 of the way toward isolation, but that's my personal view.  As long as no one's going to force posts from the sports bar section onto Vikings Journal, I won't have an issue.

To be honest, we haven't talked about it. I have no idea if we'll take future action if the Sports Bar forum becomes inundated with football talk. I doubt we'll do anything but that's not really the point of the Sports Bar forum.

 

As for being locked out of Vikings Journal while at work, that should remedy itself in time. It's a new site and it will take time to clear some of the more aggressive site filters used in workplaces.

It's just odd to me to support talking Wild and TWolves in the Sports Bar but not the Gophers, which is more what I'd want to talk than NFL football regardless.  Some issues would be big enough to warrant that discussion anyway, like if Steve McNair was murdered today, for instance.

I have the feeling we're not going to be particularly stringent about what you post in the Sports Bar, just stating that none of us had talked about it yet.
