You forgot the : )

If the original tweet wasn't required to carry one, neither should Chief's.

Everyone knows that the best way to learn to hit RHP's breaking balls from the RH batters box is by batting from the LH batters box. It's science.

This only applies to facing knuckleball pitchers. Or, something.

No big deal..

Just file it under: cause, not helping one's own

Also add....

Yes, even our brother TD poster, cmathewson, is likely willing to walk......er swim away after this revelation. Bizarre, but given everything that has gone down, not all that surprising. Gotta think now that he will be dealt before season-end.

I'm trying to come up with a good explanation for Hicksie but best to let him tell us.

FWIW here is the box from the game and a bio of the opposing pitcher, who certainly seems to have big league stuff. Rules out the knuckleballer theory. :)

In this day and age of technology there does not appear to be an astute human being trying to scratch out a living covering the Rock Cats. That leaves speculation and less to fill the pages of TD.

1. Twins management said to keep hitting left handed

2. Hick's dad told him to keep batting left handed

3. Hicks had a change of heart. He did well in AA as a LHB. Start over and build on it

4. Chad Allen having nothing to lose, convinced Hicks to stay batting left handed. He thinking if he could make Hicks a better hitter left handed in 2 weeks, Mr Allen would have a shot at the bigs.

It would be much simpler if there was someone within the media to as him questions. With the injury perhaps it gave him time to think. Found this old quote

My dad, he didn’t want me to play baseball,” said Hicks. “So he made me hit left-handed, and I’d never hit left-handed before. And I was struggling a lot. He was thinking probably a couple seasons and I’d be done with baseball, but he didn’t know that I’m not gonna stop. I’m not gonna stop until I get it right. And that’s how I ended up becoming a switch-hitter.”

"I am not going to stop until I get it right." Hopefully he found the youthful resolve as well as confidence.

And isn't it ironic, the Rock Cats are the hottest team in professional baseball, just set a team record of 10 straight wins, 12 of 13 with Rosario in the lineup. And this, even though Hicks has to be a bit of a distraction coming in late to the party and all.

The fans are the only ones who seem to be paying attention. The Cats had a sellout crowd today of 8400, and the 4th highest single-game attendance mark in their history. The Hartford Courant newspaper, whose namesake city has stolen the team, doesn't even see fit to publish game summaries, let alone assign a beat writer.

Am I crazy or should we trade Hicks? Hicks reminds me of Delmon Young. I know the f/o has to take some blame, but this passive, "my way or the highway attitude" reminds me of Delmon Young's time with the Rays. His pitch recodnition skills are terrible. Rumor has it that the Twins have been making some calls about SP's on the trading block. The Twins know Hicks's flaws, but could they make a rebuilding team overlook them by focusing on his potential. Then, they could make a trade along the same lines as the Young for Garza/Bartlett trade.

The subject of the thread was Hicks hitting left handed, therefore I limited my post to hitting. Imagine that, someone trying to keep to topic and remembering the topic within the first page of a thread.

I can't think of many reasons why Hicks would revisit switch-hitting on his injury rehab. The only legitimate answer would be if he felt some discomfort when swinging RH and wanted to see if there was the same pain hitting from the other side. I guess I won't comment further until there is more of an explanation from New Britain or the player.

Yeah, when you compile this, along with refusing to play winter ball, and the whole "showing up not knowing who's pitching" stuff, it certainly seems Hicks marches to the beat of his own drum.

That's fine if it works, but it's not going to give you much benefit of the doubt if it doesnt.
