I'm sensing that perhaps this will be high water for the Twins and for a lot of individuals on the club. Here are players who are in the Top 20 of various offensive categories:

Considering Mauer has been one of the better two strike hitters in the league for some time, I would say, that surprises me the most. However, it's early in the season and i'd be even more surprised if all three of these trends continue until the end of the year. Colabello seems to be for real. It wouldn't surprise me if he ends up having a good year.

If Pedro Florimon had enough plate appearances to qualify, he would be #1 in all the league for lowest OPS.

Mauer, Plouffe (each at 20) tied at 11th in MLB.

 

Hits:

Colabello has cooled off. Two hits in the last week.

Mauer now leads the team in hits (31) and ranks tied-12th in AL.

 

Home Runs:

Dozier (7) is in an 8-way tie for 7th in MLB

 

RBI:

Colabello (27) is still 3rd in MLB.

Plouffe and Suzuki tied for 15th overall, not bad.

 

BB:

Dozier (21) and Mauer (19) rank in top 10 of MLB.

Twins lead MLB with 133, followed by Oakland (130) and Boston (124). Still a great trend …… The Dodgers are up to 7th in MLB in BB with 100 after drawing 18 walks from us in yesterday's doubleheader. (Can't say walks cost us the game, as none of the 12 walks in the second game factored into the scoring!)

 

SO:

Dozier, Kubel, Mauer each sit at 28 K's, none among the top 20 for most strikeouts …… Team is 10th highest with 238. Not a big deal.

 

BA:

Here's the unfortunate drop. No one who qualifies is over .300 any longer... as of today, Kubel, Mauer, Suzuki, Colabello, all batting between .290 and .300, Plouffe cooled off to .277 and hopefully not back on his way down to the .230s.

 

OBP:

Mauer leads the team at .397, which ranks 19th in MLB.

 

SLG:

Colabello still leads team, with .470, but is out of MLB Top 50.

 

OPS:

Plouffe leads with .819 but also out of top 50.

Drew Butera, #BoatAnchor, is my new favorite Dodger. Kershaw? sure he can throw a baseball, and Puigsanity is still running rampant, but for my money I'll take a weak-hitting back up catcher who plagued the Twins with regular playing time and a sub .200 BA.
