Why the Twins SHOULD trade Nick Gordon

Depends on the return of course, but if they can Package Gordon with any other prospect not named Gonsalves or Romero, they should move him for a Pitcher that has some tread. I am not saying a Rent a Cole....but somebody that might be able to give them 5+ years.

The Twins are suddenly shortstop rich and have Vielma at AAA went 3-3 last night. I think Gordon is good but hardly irreplaceable...and I dont think he is a once in lifetime player like Sano or maybe Kepler, he is a good chip to have in the wallet, see what he will bring

I may be in the minority here, but I'd rather look to trade Polanco than Gordon even. I don't know if that is a dumb take, or the dumbest take, but that's just my opinion.

Perfect world Polanco and Gordon are their up the middle duo for the next 5-10 years. But I don't know if Dozier is ever going anywhere either.

Maybe Gordon is a 3B and Sano moves to 1st in a year or two? That wouldn't be so bad either.

Polanco is a heady, steady and reliable baseball player with as much BYTO as anyone on the club.  He may never match Altuve or Cano's numbers, but he will be as solid as any 2B in the game over the next decade plus.  He is one of the last players I would trade on this roster.

Two distinct ways to go pointed out here. In the old world, Dozier would likely already have an extension, and Gordon and Vielma would be 28 when they are called up. Hopefully that changes. On this roster I could still see moving Dozier, sliding Polanco over, bringing up the glove first Vielma, and considering moving Gordon also. I still think the offense on this team will only continue to solidify. And the oddity about BD to me remains this. We consider him to valueable to trade, but no one will give us anything for him. Or at least hasn't so far.

Engelb Vielma cannot hit for average, doesn't take many walks, and has no power or real speed on the base paths. The twins already have one one trick defensive pony in Buston burning a hole in their offensive lineup and they don't need another one.

He is not even a stop gap, he is a minor league roster filler that's only real chance to make the majors is a series of injuries to players in front of him

I guess I wouldnt consider Buxton a one trick defensive pony when over his last 28 days he is hitting .247 with a .313 OBP and 7 stolen bases... Maybe that wasn't the whole point of this post but I think the last thing I call Buxton is one-trick.

Otherwise I am with you completely on Vielma... guy has little value when you have a couple SS in the system and MLB that can play adequate SS and provide offensive firepower. Just hate to see a good argument spoiled with a bad example.

Cheers
