Fire Terry Ryan immediately!

Twins Video

The Twins are 5-12. Terry Ryan has brought this team into the 2012 season woefully unable to compete at the major league level. Doing things "The Twins Way" or "The Terry Ryan Way" isn't working. No hard feelings. The Twins should clean house and simply try something different. The new GM should start by firing the entire field staff on Day One. How about starting a list of managerial candidates? Hrbek, Molitor, Carew, Smalley, Laudner, Or my favorite, how about Dan Gladden, a guy with 2 World Series rings and a little bit of fire in him?

Out of all of those guys listed, only Molitor would consider the job and he turned it down once already. But that was 10 years ago, the situation may have changed since then.

Hrbek enjoys his free time and outdoor activity too much.

Smalley, Laudner and Gladden make as much if not more with their broadcasting gigs with a lot less stress.

Fire the GM less than 20 games into the season before we've even played a team in our own division, huh? That seems... reasonable?

I'm hoping the sarcasm came through. I think this post falls into the "knee-jerk reaction" category. If they lose 100 games again, sure. That's a different scenario. I think it's a little too early to start re[placing everyone in the front office, especially if they haven't really had a chance to undo the damage done by the previous guy.

Molitor declined the job, in part, he was going through an ugly divorce. There's more status in being a manager than a broadcaster. I forgot to mention Al Newman, Randy Bush and Gene Larkin.

The Twins are 22 years without a Championship in a 30 team league. Yes, it's reasonable to change course. Yes, it's reasonable to expect better results. What's unreasonable is to keep doing things the same "way" and expect better results.

Most teams have gone longer than that without winning a championship. 11 teams have won a Championship since the Twins last did. That leaves more than half the league with a longer drought than the Twins. I guess they should all clean house whenever they get off to a slow start?

That list of replacements is amusing. Apparently your only criteria there is that the guy was one of your boyhood heroes. I'm surprised Luke Skywalker and Indiana Jones weren't mentioned.

If your standard is what fhe rest of the league is doing, go root for the Mariners. My point is that "The Twins Way" hasn't produced a championship in 22 years. Let's give something (or someone) else a try. You're reference to me personally, or my "boyhood heroes" only reveals your low self image. Are you in therapy?

Do you remember Frank Viola pitching to contact?

Do you remember Hrbek literally pulling Ron Gant off first base with a tag?

Have any if the current crop of Twins ever shown the grit to make that play?

I'm happy to consider people from outside the organization. My pint remains: let's ease try a different approach!!!

I'm sorry, but it's hard not to be condescending when you go with the "fire everyone and replace them with guys from the glory days" cry.

It's a ridiculously common fantasy of frustrated Twins fans - the team has a "we're getting the band back together" press conference to announce that heroes of yore are back in the fold. Then Hrbek, Gladden and Co. march into the locker room wearing their World Series rings and fiercely re-tell a bunch of war stories while the current Twins sit half-scared, half-amazed as they absorb the lessons of what it takes to win in the big leagues. Then, inspired, they go out and trounce everyone in sight en route to a World Series crown.

I hate to burst your bubble, but it's not going to happen.

I'm open to regime change if this disaster continues, but there needs to be something more than "they played good for the Twins 25 years ago" on their resume to convince me that they are the right guys hire.

No bubble, here. Just want more wins and fewer excuses. Gardenhire can go bowling with Dennis Green, Mike Tice, Clem Haskins and Todd Richards. 10-2 in the sixth! Beer at Target Field should be free whenever the Twins give up 10 runs. That might hit the Pohlads in the wallet.

Amen, brother! Step one is to Fire Terry Ryan Immediately!, then hire a GM with the backbone to clean house. Should the Pohlads fail to fire Ryan, we need to spearhead a Boycott Target Field Day.

You guys seem to be forgetting that the Twins shocked everyone when they got rid of Bill Smith, and right now, Terry Ryan is trying to figure out what pitcher is the best to pick in the draft to try and make up for the disgusting level of talent (or lack therof) in our Minor League system.

J-Dog. My memory is intact. The Twins have won one playoff series since Ryan took over the GM seat the first time. Ryan, Smith, Gardenhire all must go!

Boycott Target Field!!

I'm sorry, I thought this post was meant to be ironic, but then I read the comments. I choose to believe this is a joke and call it a day. Makes me feel better about the future of our country when I assume it is populated by one less idiot.

I'm sure Smalley, Laudner, and Gladden would have a collective laugh if they read that they make as much if not more than Gardy does.
