Twins Video

About the only reason to watch the Twins now is to watch young talent, So why is Pinto riding the bench?

Is there a catch doctor in the house? Can he be so bad that he cant even be the backup catcher?

What did he do to get into the doghouse?

Every time i see Suzuki penciled in, I am a lot less interested...are the pitchers requesting Suz?

Help me figure this out...please!!!

My guesses: Vargas is getting the vast majority of the DH at-bats, the ones Pinto got earlier in the year, and Gardy doesn't see him as the "best chance to win at C" against teams still in contention. I have no problem with the former, but do not buy the latter.

The MLB gods can bite me on the "play your A team against contenders" stuff.  The Twins need to get a realistic look at what they have down on the farm.  Why should they be penalized?

Yup.  Anyone griping about Pinto behind the plate is pretty much blowing smoke.  Fryer has batted a Drew Butesque .214/.276/.314, and since his questionable contract extension Suzuki has batted .256/.291/.383.

Defense is a big part of the equation for catchers, but if Pinto can at least get the ball back to to mound he has a chance to add up to at least close match to the alternatives.

Apparently it was very important to get another look at Chris Hermann, as if we didn't know already that his below-average defense doesn't help offset his lack of hitting, and that positional flexibility only helps if you can actually play the position.

Maybe Pinto thought he was a bird and needed to feed his baby chics. These things happen all the time. Players think they are mother birds. Really weird stuff going on in MLB.
