Whew... glad to get that out of the way. This is how the Twin's are going to have to perform to win games. We will need to score 5+ runs for the most part to win a game, but at least Carl gave us some innings. The inside job by Bourjos was a knee to the nuggets, but what the heck, it all worked out. Kudos to Willingham and Parmelee for their big hits. I have been an opponent of the Willingham signing, not because I don't like him or his contract, but more so for philosophical reasons on how I th

This is bad news, make no mistake. When he's

They're 0-4 after losing three straight to The Baltomore Orioles and the home opener against the Angels, scoring only 6 runs compared with 20 runs allowed. Now that they've had an off day to assess where they're at, I think it will be interesting to find out how they will respond. Granted, the Twins haven't made a
Per La Velle. http://www.startribune.com/sports/twins/blogs/147047085.html This doesn't sound good. I'll hope for the best, but it's tough to imagine a press conference with Terry Ryan sitting next to Baker, and Baker saying "I'm 100% ready for action!"
Here's my first shot at this. I'm assuming no one will see it, but if you do, Thanks....and sorry. I was going to post something earlier with predictions and such but then remembered I hate predictions and such. So I decided to give it a few games before I chimed in. I have to go at this from the only perspective I have, from the view of a fan 4 hours away. So far its pretty simple: This is bad. It hurts to watch on TV. I half expect Bert to jump from the booth to his werciful demise. It hurt

There were 11 of the 25 members of the team in attendance at the game along with most of the coaching staff. There were plenty of cheers for fan favorites like Torii Hunter, Doug

Let's say Joey V. gets the axe. Who takes over his position? Is Bruno called up from AAA? Or would it be Scott "Weirdo" Ulger to assume that position? I assume the latter, although I would be pro for the former. What's your take?
Off Day for the Twins today, but all 4 levels on the farm played. 2 Wins, 2 Loses, Another big day for Hicks and Sano. And, apparently, there's nothing like going winless for the first four games to divide the fans. The optimists insist that four games is too small a sample size to get too worked up about yet, and the pessimists see that all the flaws aren't being fixed. And each side
The answer is from Dave Schoenfeld who writes the "Sweet Spot" blog on ESPN's MLB page. I can see a scary situation unfolding in Minneapolis. Say Mauer and/or Morneau gets hurt again early this season, Target Field could be half empty before the All-Star break as the 2012 Twins challenge the 1962 Mets for the ultimate distinction in baseball futility. How long before Gardy gets his long overdue ejection by the front office, even if the Twins stay healthy? The fans have wanted his he
Will there ever be a way To choose a Boyfriend of the Day From this team all too easy to jeer I guess I'll try tomorrow Maybe Justin or Liriano But for now it's a shot and a beer! http://ts3.mm.bing.net/th?id=I4828802186281002&pid=1.3
After dropping the home opener 5-1 to the Angels, the Twins find themselves as the only American League team without a win this season. Yes, it has only been 4 games. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire is quick to remind the media and fans of that however, is it too early to panic? This author thinks that the panic button should be pushed and pushed hard right now. In 2011, the Twins began the season 1-3 on their way to a 63-99 record. While a team’s record through 4 games is hardly indicative how the
This was originally published at The Tenth Inning Stretch --- Here is this week's installment: The opening day was a bummer but featured somewhat a comeback, for which I was thankful. Still the Twins lost, which is not good. My thoughts as I was watching that game are here. The second game debacle did not put me in a great mood and the third game was the cherry on top. At least there were a couple of bright points: Swarzak's performance on short notice, Jamey Carroll's defense, Frankie L
As the Twins sit at 0-4, many questions abound about this team. How bad is this bullpen? Why is Jamey Carroll batting second? Just how awful will the Joe Mauer contract be looked at? Yet, we have heard a myriad of people saying, "be patient." I have two words for you..."screw you." After sitting through a summer of failures, disappointments and screw ups, many were hoping that the 2012 Twins season was going to be a turnaround. Though expectations certainly weren't high, hope springs eternally
Let me count the ways in which the Twins focused on adding offense this year: Of the ~$18M the Twins spent this offseason, $14M were spent on adding hitters. The only exceptions were bargain-shopping acquisitions of Jason Marquis and Joe Zumaya. Jamey Carroll was one of the first free agents signed this offseason, and he was given a 2-year deal, despite being limited defensively and being 38 years old? Why? Because he could get on base. He doesn’t have a hit this year. Ryan Doumit ha
It’s the same with every team in every city, be it the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox , the Seattle Mariners, the Houston Astros, or the Minnesota Twins. Each team has fans that are willing to be patient, think logically and give the benefit of the doubt to players and front office personnel whose jobs are much tougher than it looks on TV. Each team has fans that are ready to jump off of a bridge with every loss, feeling the need to place blame on someone, a player, the manager, a hitti
Jose Rodriguez was the Twins Daily short-season minor-league hitter of the year. He is at the Dominican facilities for spring training now but will likely join Extended Spring Training in Fort Myers.
I really hold back what I would like to say about then payroll arguments here. The fact that people don't accept the amount taken in dictates the amount going out requires one of two things. Extreme financial ignorance or fanatical bias that prevents the acceptance of something some basic. I did not change the argument. It's the same idiocy over and over. Do you really want to be on the side that suggests revenues does not determine spending capacity?
