Felix Jorge comes into 2013 having had a great 2012. He is 19 this season and stands 6'2" and only 170 lbs. He had a 2.34 ERA with 37 K's and 12 BB's in 34.2 IP for the GCL Twins last year. He signed a few years back and was considered one of the better INTL pitchers available. Finding scouting reports or anything of substance on him is difficult.

 

15. Felix Jorge, RHP 1/2/1994 H:6’2″ W:170 - Jorge is a young righty, projection in his frame and already flashes low 90s with his fastball. He should grow a little taller and add at least 20 lbs to his frame. That should uptick the velocity to the mid 90s. He pairs the fastball with an average curve and changeup. It’s been enough to hold lower level hitters to a .221 AVG against last year and lead the GCL staff with a 2.34 ERA fully supported by his FIP. He’s still on the first steps of a long development path but could be a top SP prospect for the system in just 2 years.

Hopefully by the end of the year we will be much more familiar with him. At this point he is all projection with some pretty good results in his first few years in low level ball. I hope to see him in Cedar Rapids by the end of the year, but the Twins might not be as aggressive with him as they've been with some of their top prospects recently. A good year from him could find him in the top 20 prospects for the Twins (already 15 on baseballinstinct) with a chance at top 10 lists with Hicks, Arcia coming off (I would say Gibson, but I doubt he will get enough innings in the MLB at this point). I'm excited about his potential. He has a smooth, easily repeatable delivery with a lot of projection. This is a guy to keep an eye on.

He started the opener for E-Town 2013 with 1.2 IP and 3 K's. He started the game, so I'm not sure why he only went 1.2 innings... Anyway, not a bad debut. Hopefully he can build on this start and begin to rise in relevancy.

Felix pitched last night with a final line of 5.2 IP 1 H 3 BB 6 SO. The only run scored on him came in the first when he walked the lead-off man, and a sac bunt followed by a double scored him. So far he has a 1.23 in 7.1 IP 1 H 4 BB and 9 SO. It is early still, but to be moved to Cedar Rapids this year he will have to control the walks.

Another good outing by Felix. 5 IP 1 H 4 K's. He's starting to pile up some pretty impressive numbers. 12.1 IP 2 H 4 BB 13 K's. Opponents are hitting a dismal .056 against him. It is early yet, but so far he is dominating.

With some downgrades and a few prospects in the majors and off the list. Jorge could make the top 20 and would expect it. Would like to see him in Cedar Rapids in August if he keeps up this pace. Nice update.

First bad outing of the year for Felix today. 5 IP 6 H 4 R (3 ER) 3 BB and 6 SO. First 2 innings is where the damage was done. 2 errors in the first scored an unearned run. In the second a single, walk and homerun were runs scored. Seems like he settled down and put up 3 scoreless inning after. Not sure if the errors rattled him early or he just didn't have his usual stuff today. Will have to pay attention to his next start against Bristol (a pretty bad 5-13 record BTW).

Tonight he came back against Bristol again. The results were much different this time. 5 IP 5 H 1 ER 2 BB 6 SO. Another nice game.

Berrios only threw 14 innings in E-Town last year and started in CR. I wonder how much longer Jorge will have to stay down. It really doesn't seem like this league is challenging him much right now.

Its only been about a month since I updated, so I'll go right ahead and throw down. Felix had a nice outing tonight after a little run of rough starts. 7 IP 4h 2er 2bb 7K was his line tonight.

41.1 IP 39h 13bb 45K 3.17 ERA 1.26 WHIP

 

I still hope he gets to see time in Cedar Rapids this year. If he keeps putting up starts like tonight he will be making a good case for it.

E'town's regular season ends Aug. 30 and CR's regular season ends September 2 so they are about the same. The Kernels will be in the playoffs, while E'town is 2.5 games back of a playoff spot.

Felix Jorge, rhp, Twins: Jorge generated buzz in the Dominican Republic when he was an amateur in leading up to July 2, 2010, but his velocity dropped and with it so did his price tag. Jorge signed with the Twins for $250,000 in February 2010 and has shown the ingredients to be a starting pitcher, throwing strikes with a low- to mid-90s fastball and solid feel for his secondary pitches. On Friday, Jorge struck out a season-high 11 batters and allowed two runs over six innings for Rookie-level Elizabethton, lowering his ERA to 3.15 with 63 strikeouts and 17 walks in 54 1/3 innings.
