Behind the Fence: Last Day of MilB camp, Mejia and Jorge throw, Vargas rehabs

Game AAA vs AA started with Adalberto Mejia vs Felix Jorge while the Hi A vs Lo A was  David Hurbut vs Tyler Wells.  I'll be honest, I didn't pay much attention to the Hi A/Low A as the talent was much better on the other field.  Mejia went 5 innings and was relieved by Sledgers for 4 innings afterwards.  Adalberto started on fire, striking out Vielma, Gordon and Harrison with ease but then started to get a little wild in the second and third, giving up a blast Dan Rohlfing (who his a HR vs BoSox yesterday as well).  Mejia's fastball was sitting 91-93 mph topping out at 94, 81-84 mph slider, 80-83 mph changeup.

His opposing starter RHP Felix Jorge did not fair as well in his four innings giving up homeruns to Daniel Palka (broken bat handle and still went out) as well as Mitch Garver.  Jorge was mainly 91-93 mph

Kennys Vargas was also playing for the AAA club getting some at bats as DH while Park played 1B.  Vargas is still obviously limping down the lines and his swing is altered due to his injury.

Almost forgot, Fernando Romero and his joking around with Kohl Stewart was a highlight of my day.  Romero is a jokester, is always laughing and having fun, and today his target was Kohl Stewart who was charting.  Romero asked Kohl why you no smile Kohl? Kohl tried ignoring Romero which I can tell you first hand doesn't work.  Romero then proceeded to continue to call Kohl repeated like a 5 year old til Stewart finally turned around and gave a fake smile and Romero laughed finally getting Kohl to talk. Chattanooga should be interesting this year.

Thanks for posting these updates all spring.  They were fun to read and watching the video is great for someone who will probably not get to Fort Myers....ever!

I'm a little surprised by that because you can see he can't run, he's hobbling down the bases.  Even at the plate it looked like he wasn't putting full weight on his foot during weight transfer.
