DaveW: Dodgers trade for Dozier to be completed within the next 24 hours

Have a source within one of the two teams listed above. I was just texted that the deal is all but done, just a couple questions on the 4th piece to come back in the trade.

(Hi gang. John Bonnes is editing this quickly. While we at TwinsDaily think DaveW is a helluva guy, we are not verifying this claim. TwinsDaily's forums allow for a free & civil exchange of information, ideas & opinions of our members. That's what this is. And that's cool; we want to groupsource what we're hearing, and I appreciate DaveW taking a personal risk to share this with the community. But, just so we're clear:Twins Daily is NOT reporting this.)

Moderator's note: And, just in case someone new stumbles into this thread thinking it might be worth reading all the way through: it almost immediately became a groupsourced humor thread (with occasional updates from the original poster on the nominal topic), with dozens of tangents and sub-tangents, setting some kind of unofficial TD record for length within a short time. Enjoy, if that's your style, because it's all (mostly?) in good fun, but don't invest time looking for officially announced news, because if and when any news actually exists it will be found in a TD article, not a member thread like this one.  -- ashburyjohn

One other aspect to pass along: "Twins have next to no interest in Puig, don't think he would fare well on a rebuilding team, attitude questions, hustle, not a Twins type player"

Dave, good luck to you sir.

May your knowledge be thick and your skin thicker if it is not.

Meh I don't pretend to be a blogger or reporter or anything. But just pass along things when I hear them (rarely)

I am 3 for 4 in my career though with Twins breaking news I did break the Mauer contract after all!

I'd be shocked if I'm wrong on this one. Source hasn't let me down yet.

I would imagine if there are four pieces coming back, then the Twins are either giving something else up besides Dozier, or they are getting quantity, rather than quality - in other words, somewhat lesser prospects but more of them.

In any event, I hope this is true. There is an awful lot of Twins-Dodgers smoke and it's difficult to envision something not getting done.

Perhaps a Santiago type to replace a rotation pitcher?

You could throw in a Santiago along with Dozier and get better prospects in return, I'd think. If one of the players I was getting back was a pitcher, I'd sure do it. And Santiago would probably be better off in the National League, anyway.

They have no desire for any other Twins player in this trade. The Twins potentially could trade some AAA filler, but that's highly unlikley.

They want Dozier, nobody else.

Ok, well, four players for Dozier seems solid to me, but again we'd have to see the specifics.

Players 3 and 4 (if they end up having a 4th) likely won't be much to write home about. Ideally they are lottery tickets instead of Pat Dean types etc.

That was certainly the case with the Sale trade. That deal was all about Moncada and Kopech.
