The Twins lost to the Blue Jays Saturday evening, but good luck trying to tell that to anybody at Target Field who was wearing a gorgeous red “From Worst To Thirst” shirt. We were all too busy having a great time to even notice (or maybe that was just me).Snapshot (chart via Fangraphs) Download attachment: Snapshot917.png The Twins may have lost Saturday night, but it could have been worse if not for a brave pub crawler. In the middle of the fifth inning, with the Twins already down 3-0, a brave man recklessly tore through Minnie & Paul’s reminding every fan he could possibly get the attention of that the Twins were in the process of being no-hit. Some fans met this news with disgust, but the brave town crier carried out his job, undeterred by the negative reactions, for he knew somewhere, somehow the Baseball Gods were listening. Thankfully, the brave work of that unknown man (it was Nick Nelson) paid off, and the no-hitter was effectively jinxed. Eddie Rosario blasted a homer run in the bottom of the fifth, his 24th of the season. What of the rest of the game? Well, never mind that. Rest happily knowing that there was many a pub crawler who had an excellent evening watching a meaningful Minnesota Twins game on a wonderful mid-September evening. Looking back to March, could you have asked for anything better than that? Yes, the Twins lost. Yes, the stadium was filled with Blue Jays fans. Does that make us all losers by association? … Wait, what were we talking about again? Thanks to everyone for a fantastic Twins Daily Touch ‘Em All Pub Crawl, sponsored by Proximo Liquors. Over 100 people crawled from Ray J’s American Grill to The Office Pub & Grill to Sneaky Pete’s and finally to the Twins game and beyond. We had a local dignitary join us and a moment I’ll not soon forget. I’d especially like to thank Proximo Liquors for the free sample of Three Olives Vodka, Krakken Rum and Tin Cup Gin that we got at each stop. A few other highlights: Wally the Beer Man joined the crawl at our last stop, serving up beer for the crawlers and being generous with his time for pictures. He’s a Twin Cities baseball institution and we were honored to have him join us.A few local media luminaries jumped into the fray at various points. I don’t want to implicate them too much, but it was great to see you and I know a lot of the crawlers enjoyed meeting you.This year we had a special scavenger hunt contest which encouraged participants to meet and greet MinnCentric writers and contributors, so they could get them to sign the weird fact about them. We got thirteen completed sheets and the winner was Micah Larson, who has been contacted to get his pair of front row Twins tickets. I hope you enjoyed the day as much as I did.Thanks, of course, to The Voice Of Reason for not only tolerating this insanity but throwing herself headfirst into it.Special thanks to Ray J’s, The Office and Sneaky Pete’s and their staff for gearing up for the rush and making us feel welcome.Finally, it was sure nice of the Twins to schedule a day-night doubleheader so we could watch a game while we were pub crawling. It led to the moment I won’t forget. At our second stop, the bar went from loud to suddenly quiet. I looked up and saw why. Miguel Sano was batting in the 7th inning in a game in which the Twins faced a two-run deficit. He represented the tying run. Of course he hit a home run. And of course the bar exploded. High fives with strangers were exchanged, as were smiles and looks of wonder. It was the moment that the pub crawl was made for. We’re very happy to announce our partner bars for the Twins Daily Touch ‘Em All Pub Crawl sponsored by Proximo Spirits. Each will be offering specials only for participants with a valid t-shirt…and something more that we’ll announce tomorrow. Before I get to this, let me remind you – tickets will be very limited. They will only be on sale from Thursday, September 3rd through Tuesday September 8th. And they might not last that long - the Minneapolis Fire Marshall frowns upon us overselling this event. Stop by Twins Daily at 8AM on Thursday to make sure you get your tickets. We’ll give you the link tomorrow, so you’re ready to go.We’ll start at Ray J’s American Grill (Noon to 1:45), who was voted the best wings in Minnesota by WCCO TV. They’ll have some food specials on top of the drink specials they’ll be offering. Also, there should be plenty of reasonable parking options over the river, which should save some dough. From there, we’ll have about a 20 minute walk across the historic and scenice Hennepin Avenue Bridge to The Office Pub and Grill. (2:15-3:30) With 18 HDTVs, we should be able to keep up with college football scores or maybe root against the Blue Jays who will have an afternoon game. Then it’s just a 10 minute walk to Sneaky Pete’s (3:45 – 5:30). It has three bars so there should be plenty of room. Can you still buy a beer from Wally the Beerman at Sneaky Pete’s? We’ll find out. We’ll also finish off our contest and provide the grand prize … which I’ll announce tomorrow. Finally, we’ll head over to Target Field where we have Field View tickets. We’ll also likely continue our Pub Crawl through the various establishments at the ballpark, which we’ll coordinate during the Pub Crawl. Again, we expect somewhere between 100 and 200 people and demand will be high. We’ve waited four long years to watch meaningful September games, so we're going overboard for 2015’s Twins Daily Touch ‘Em All Pub Crawl. This will be the biggest and best ever. PLEASE set aside the 19th of September, starting at noon on your calendar, then take a minute and tell your friends to set it aside too. While you’re at it, you may want to set a reminder for yourself the morning of Thursday, September 3rd, because that’s when tickets will go on sale, and we only have so much room in some of these bars.We’ll start releasing details on Monday, but with the help of our friends at Proximo Liquors, we’re going for it this year. All the bars are going to be within walking distance of Target Field. They’ll all be featuring free drinks from our friends at Proximo Liquors. There will be special prizes for anyone willing to hassle a Twins Daily writer. It should be one of the last really beautiful weekends of a fantastic Minnesota summer. We’ll be attending a critical game against the wild card contending Angels. And because we want to make it the biggest ever, you won’t believe the special early price we're offering. Trust me. Today's the day of Twins Daily's "Touch Em All" Pub Crawl sponsored by Three Olives Vodka and Maestro Dobel Tequila. You're too late for one of the t-shirts or Twins tickets (they were sold weeks ago), but that doesn't mean you can't join us and hang out and talk baseball. You'll also get to witness a Gleeman and the Geek podcast recording in-person, you lucky ducks. Here's the itinerary:We’ll meet up at noon at Barrio Tequila Bar in Lowertown, which also has been awarded some of the best Mexican food in the Twin Cities. They’re hinting at an all-you-can-eat taco special to gear us up for the trip ahead and a raffle for some free pizzas from Papa Johns. Also, Aaron Gleeman has promised to show us videos of his cat. From there we’ll jump on the new Metro Transit Green Line to the U of M and Campus Pizza. There will be more food, drinks and a raffle for DiamondCentric t-shirts. Parker will also entertain us with outtakes from the Twins Daily photo shoot by Twin Cities Business Journal. Our third stop is DiNoko’s BarZia in downtown Minneapolis, home of Chicago Style Deep Dish pizza. There will be yet more specials for the t-shirt wearing crowd and a raffle of four highly sought after Twins Daily Winter Meltdown Pint Glasses. Nick Nelson will impress us all by not rapping. Finally, we’ll end where we did last year – at Mason’s Barre & Restaurant. If you were with us last year or at the Meltdown or at the Home Run Derby party, you know they always take care of us. We’ll also have a very special raffle….. At each bar, you’ll be able to get a stamp on your hand. Anyone who is at Mason’s and has all three of the other stamps will be eligible for a special drawing for two pairs of front row Twins tickets for a game later this year. Finally, you’ll be going to a Twins game with us all where we’ll watch Alex Meyer or Trevor May pitch a perfect game while various Twins players buy us rounds of cocktails*.
