CHATTANOOGA CHATTER Montgomery 3 @ Chattanooga 2 Box Score Chattanooga gave up a pair of runs in the top of the first inning, starting the game with three consecutive singles and a sacrifice fly to plate two runs. After a bumpy first inning, Lookouts starter Dereck Rodriguez settled down and went deep into the game. He was lifted for Cody Stashak, who gave up a run in the top of the eighth, which ended up being the difference maker. After they fell behind early, the Lookouts battled back to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh, before Stashak coughed up the lead an inning later. The Lookouts were led by Max Murpy, 2-4 with an RBI double and T.J. White, who launched a solo home run to tie the game in the seventh. The bottom of the Lookouts order really struggled on Thursday night, a combined 0-9 for the 7-8-9 hitters. Jimmy Kerrigan had a big night at the plate as well, 3-5 with a pair of runs scored. Manager Tommy Watkins acknowledged to Kernels beat reporter Jeff Johnson that they found a tip in the Cougars pitcher. "“You know what, we got a hit and got him in the stretch. We had something on him, and it was more out of the stretch than in the windup." Read Jeff's story in its entirety here. Clark Beeker went 7.0 innings, scattered nine hits and gave up three runs (two earned) while walking three and striking out six. He was lifted for Colton Davis who gave the team 1.2 innings of two-hit baseball before Hector Lujan came in to get the final out of the game against the only batter he faced to preserve the win. It was an exciting night in the Twins minor league system on Wednesday. Sure, the Red Wings just missed out on the playoffs thanks to a tiebreaker. The GCL Twins lost their one playoff game earlier in the week. However, Elizabethton played one game on Wednesday night. If they won, they advance. If they lose, their season is done. The Miracle had a tougher task, but if they won twice, they would be co-champs of the Florida State League. And the Cedar Rapids Kernels and Chattanooga Lookouts both started their first-round playoff series.Let’s get to the action, but first, a set of transactions. Alex Robles and Colton Burns have joined the Elizabethton Twins from the GCL to fill out their roster. CHATTANOOGA CHATTER As the Lookouts game was starting, the Southern League announced that they were cancelling the championship series due to concerns regarding Hurricane Irma. There was concern for the players, the teams, their families, but they also know that the hotels and other facilities may be needed for those who have left Florida. Also, Jacksonville and Pensacola are in the other half. They will play their games in Pensacola and then in Biloxi if necessary. Chattanooga 4, Montgomery 3 Box Score The game started out with some offense and quieted down quickly but in the ninth things got very interesting. In the first inning, Zack Littell gave up a leadoff home run to put the Lookouts down a run. But in the bottom of the first, Nick Gordon and Edgar Corcino started things with singles. Following a wild pitch, third-place hitter LaMonte Wade singled in both runs to put the Lookouts out front. Wade later scored the third run of the inning on a single by Andy Wilkins. In the fourth inning, TJ White added a solo home run. In the sixth inning, Zack Littell had a bout of wildness. He walked the first two batters of the inning. However, he struck out the next two batters. But after a two-out single cut the lead to 4-2, Littell was replaced by Anthony McIver who got out of the inning. Littell gave up two runs on three hits over 5.2 innings. He walked five and struck out six. McIver threw 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit, walking one and striking out one. The Lookouts had a two-run lead going into the ninth inning. Gabriel Moya came on for them and walked the first two batters. A passed ball meant runners on second and third with nobody out. He got a strikeout for the first out. He then gave up a deep fly ball which allowed one run to score and the other runner to advance to third. Fortunately for the Lookouts, Moya was able to get the third out without the tying run crossing home plate. Moya gets the save. Littell picks up the win. Obviously only regular season stats will show up on baseball cards and on statistical websites, but that pushes his overall record this season to 20-1. Nick Gordon and Andy Wilkins each went 2-4. Brian Navarreto added a double, and TJ White homered. The two teams will play Game 2 of the best of five series on Thursday night. Dereck Rodriguez will take the mound for the Lookouts. MIRACLE MATTERS As mentioned yesterday, the Florida State League announced that there would be co-champions in 2017 because of Hurricane Irma. There will not be a championship series. The Miracle lost Game 1 with Palm Beach on Tuesday night, so they had two win twice on Wednesday to become the co-champs. How did it go for the Miracle? Well, keep reading... Ft. Myers 2, Palm Beach 3 Box Score The Palm Beach Cardinals are the 2017 Florida State League co-champions with a 3-2, walk-off, hit by pitch. The Miracle season comes to an end. The Miracle fell behind 2-0 early. Sean Poppen started and threw well. The right-hander gave up two runs on seven hits and one walk. He struck out two. In the top of the sixth inning, the Miracle got on the board. Chris Paul reached on an error which allowed Tanner English to score from second. Tom Hackimer worked scoreless seventh and eighth innings, allowing only a single. In the top of the eighth inning, the Miracle still found themselves down 2-1. Nelson Molina came off of the bench, and he launched a game-tying home run. Hackimer came back out for the ninth inning. He struck out the leadoff man, but he walked the next guy. A single followed, putting runners on first and third with one out. Manager Doug Mientkiewicz decided to intentionally walk the next man, giving his infielders options in the event of a ground ball. Unfortunately, Hackimer hit the next batter, ending the game and the Miracle season. KERNELS NUGGETS Cedar Rapids 6, Kane County 5 Box Score Having struggled more in the second half than they had in the first half, when they clinched the playoff spot, it felt important for the Kernels to get off to a fast start. They couldn’t have scripted the first inning much better. Tyler Wells made the start, and he struck out two in a 1-2-3 top of the first. The Kernels put up a three-spot in the bottom of the first. Aaron Whitefield walked and advanced to third on a well-executed hit-and-run by Travis Blankenhorn. Caleb Hamilton walked to load the bases, and Lewin Diaz doubled in two runs. Hamilton scored from third on a Jimmy Kerrigan ground out to make the score 3-0. Hamilton scored from third on a Jimmy Kerrigan ground out to make the score 3-0. https://twitter.com/JimCrikket/status/905583270477406208 In the top of the second, Wells got the first two batters out. However, the next two batters reached on errors. That’s never a good thing, and these were followed by a two-run single to push the score to 3-2 Kernels. Cedar Rapids was able to respond right away. Jordan Gore and Aaron Whitefield led off the bottom of the second with singles. The next two batters got out, but Lewin Diaz picked them up with a second two-run double to give the Kernels a 5-2 lead after two innings. Wells gave up just one more run in his 5.2 innings. Of the three runs he gave up, just one was earned. He struck out eight without issuing a walk. Ryan Mason got the final out of the sixth inning. He gave up a two-run homer in the seventh inning that tied the score at 5-5. Lewin Diaz led off the eighth inning with his third double of the game. He advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single off the bat of Jimmy Kerrigan. The Kernels thus grabbed the 6-5 lead which meant it was time for Hector Lujan, and he came through again. Lujan gets the save and recorded a strikeout in a 1-2-3 ninth. Diaz led the way with three doubles and four RBI in four at-bats. Travis Blankenhorn went 2-4 with a double. Jimmy Kerrigan went 2-4 with a double and two RBI. Aaron Whitefield went 1-3 with a walk. The series shifts to Kane County for Game 2, and potentially Game 3. E-TWINS E-NOTES Elizabethton 6, Greeneville 0 Box Score With a win in Game 3, the Twins would advance to Appalachian League championship series. With a loss, their season would be complete. The Twins sent Appy League Pitcher of the Year Edwar Colina to the mound to start. The right-hander put together arguably the best start of his career. He threw 6.2 shutout innings. He gave up three hits, walked three and struck out eight. Jared Finkel came on and got the final out of the seventh and first out of the eighth, both on strikeouts. Jovani Moran got the final two outs of the eighth frame, both on strikeouts. He struck out another batter in a 1-2-3 ninth inning for the save. The Twins jumped on the scoreboard in the third inning. Jorge Munoz singled in TJ Dixon. Akil Baddoo, who walked his first two times to the plate, scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Jose Miranda. Miranda later scored on a double off the bat of JJ Robinson. The score remained 3-0 until the bottom of the 8th inning. With the bases loaded, Carson Crites hit a sacrifice fly. Robinson and Kolton Kendrick advanced as well and scored on a Mark Contreras single to make it 6-0. Robinson led the offense by going 2-3 with a walk and the double. The E-Twins celebrated their series win and a trip to the Appalachian League championship series. https://twitter.com/ETwinsBaseball/status/905606851982761984 The Twins will advance to take on the Pulaski Yankees in the finals. Dalton Lehnen, who went to Lakeville North High School, was the Yankees sixth-round draft pick in June out of Augustana (SD). The Twins were well rested on Tuesday night after the off-day, and picked up a win against a White Sox squad that bested the Twins in a five-game series last week.Find out everything that happened in the Twins minor league system on Tuesday. Transactions: Twins sent Hector Santiago on rehab in Rochester, and the Lookouts sent Matt Tracy on a rehab assignment in the GCL. Anthony Marzi was promoted from Cedar Rapids to Fort Myers. RED WINGS REPORT Rochester 1 @ Scranton/WB 8 Box Score It is hard to win a game when you only score one run, and harder yet when you give up eight of them, and so it was as Rochester dropped Tuesday’s game against Scranton. Matt Hague was the only Wings player with multiple hits, 2-4 with a walk. The Wings had no extra-base hits, and walked just twice as a team, against 8 strike- outs. Tough night for Carlos Paulino who was 0-4 with 3 strike outs and he had a throwing error and a passed ball behind the dish. Hector Santiago went just 2.2 innings, gave up a hit, a run, walked two and struck out one in the first outing of his rehab assignment. Santiago was lifted for Chris Heston, who gave up six runs (five earned) in just 0.2 innings. He gave up five hits, walked two, struck out two, and gave up as many home runs as outs recorded. Luke Bard gave the Red Wings 1.2 innings of one run ball, striking out three. Nik Turley pitched 2.0 strong innings, giving up a hit, and struck out two. Mason Melotakis finished the game, giving up a hit in an inning of work. CHATTANOOGA CHATTER Chattanooga 3 @ Jackson 1 Box Score Chattanooga took a 2-1 lead in the fourth and then hung on the rest of the way, adding an insurance run in the top of the ninth. Even though he was 3-4 with three doubles, T.J. White played second fiddle to his teammate. Jonathan Rodriguez was the hero of the day, 1-4 with a two-run home run, driving in the winning run. LaMonte Wade had a nice day at the dish as well, 2-3 with two runs scored, a double and a walk. Great night on the bump for Randy LeBlanc. He earned the win moving to 4-4, with 7.1 innings of one-run (unearned) ball. He struck out two, walked one and scattered six hits. Gabriel Moya earned the five-out save, giving up a hit and striking out one. Moya lowered his ERA on the season to 0.80. Moya, if you have forgotten, was the return from the Diamondbacks in the John Ryan Murphy trade. Moya has a 0.71 ERA with the Lookouts over 12 games (12.2 IP), with 16 strikeouts and just three walks. On the year, he has 84 strike outs and only 15 walks. Looking like a pretty nice pickup. MIRACLE MATTERS Fort Myers 5 @ St. Lucie 3 Box Score Fort Myers scored all five of their runs in the fifth inning, but did enough damage against the St. Lucie Mets to earn a road win. Three of the Lookouts nine hits were for extra bases, all doubles, one each from Sean Miller, Mitchell Kranson and Zandier Wiel. Wiel also added a stolen base. The Lookouts should have scored a few more runs on Tuesday night, but were just 1-10 with runners in scoring position. Brent Rooker did not hit a dinger, going 0-3, with a run scored, the first time he has been hitless since August 16th, almost 2 weeks ago. Starter Sean Poppen earned a win with 5.0 innings of three-run baseball. He gave up six hits, struck out five and walked just one. The Bullpen then did great work the rest of the way, holding the Mets to just one hit for the next four innings. One inning from Michael Theofanopoulos (he gave up the hit), 2.0 innings from Sam Clay, and 1.0 from Tom Hackimer, earning his sixth save of the year. The Miracle pitchers struck out 10 batters on Tuesday night, and walked four. E-Twins E-Notes Elizabethton 6 @ Kingsport 3 Box Score The Elizabethon Twins were electric in the late innings, tying the game with a run in the top of the eighth, and putting the game out of reach with a three-spot in the ninth. The Twins got home runs from Wander Javier (three-run jack in the ninth), Jose Miranda (solo show tin the eighth), and J.J. Robinson (two-run dinger in the fourth). Rainis Silva didn’t have any home runs, but was 3-5 on the night, a pretty good day at the plate, and he’s now hitting .330. Randy Dobnak put the Twins in a position to win, pitching 5.0 innings, giving up just one run and striking out four. Then Jose Martinez came in, giving up a pair of runs over 2.0 innings and finally, Jovani Moran vultured a W when the Twins took a late lead, as he gave the club 2.0 scoreless innings, walking one and striking out FIVE. Moran has now stuck out five batters in his last four appearances (2.0, 2.0, 2.1, and 2.0 IP respectively), good for 20 Ks against just 2 walks. Moran was a seventh round draftee in the 2015 draft out of Puerto Rico, and has excelled as a closer for E-Town after missing 2016 due to the removal of bone chips in his elbow. GCL Twins Takes GCL Rays 2 @ GCL Twins 3 (Game 1) Box Score The Twins and Rays played a doubleheader to make up for Monday’s rain out, with each team taking a turn as the home team at the Twins complex on Tuesday afternoon. The home team ended up winning both games! In Game 1, the Twins used a couple of Rays errors to score some extra runs, taking advantage of what the Rays gave them to get a win, despite going just 2-11 with runners in scoring position. Ricky De La Torre was 2-3 with a run scored, and Jared Akins was 2-3 as a well. Benjamin Rodriguez had the only RBI of the night, an RBI single, part of a 1-2 night with a walk, and a run scored. Matt Tracy pitched 4.0 innings, on a rehab start from Chattanooga, gave up just 2 hits and one run. He walked no one and struck out six. He was replaced by Blayne Enlow, who earned the win with 3.0 innings of three-hit, one-run baseball. GCL Twins Takes GCL Twins 0 @ GCL Rays 1 (Game 2) Box Score In Game 2, with the Rays masquerading as the home team, the Twins fell 1-0. Twins bats couldn’t do much, and Alex Robles (2-3, 2B) had half of the team’s hits. Twins pitchers only gave up two hits in the second half of the doubleheader, but a handful of walks helped the Rays win. Starter Tyler Benninghoff started the game with 2.0 scoreless innings. He faced the minimum, and struck out two. Pedro Garcia was tagged with the loss, as he gave up a run over 3.0 innings, he walked three and struck out four. Zach Featherstone finished the game for the Twins, 1.0 inning, one hit, and one strikeout. The Twins shift to the road part of their home-and-home series against the Brewers on Wednesday. Earlier in the day, Kennys Vargas was recalled from Rochester to take the roster spot opened up by placing Adalberto Mejia on the disabled list. Including the DSL, the Twins affiliates went 5-0. Read up below the jump.RED WINGS REPORT Rochester 12, Columbus 3 Box Score After allowing the game’s first run, the Red Wings scored the next five and even after Columbus scored two more to narrow the lead to two, Rochester put up four runs in the next half inning to push the game out of reach. The offensive assault was led by Daniel Palka (3-4, HR, 2 RBI), Niko Goordum (3-5, 2 RBI) and Matt Hague (1-2, 2B, 3 RBI, 3 BB, 4 R). ByungHo Park and Tommy Field also contributed two-hit, two-RBI games. Eight different batters got hits and all 10 players who made a plate appearance reached base safely at least once. Hitting 8-18 with runners in scoring position typically helps you in the win column. Hector Santiago didn’t exactly “WOW!” in his rehab start. Throwing 98 pitches, but only 52 strikes and only lasting 4.1 innings, Santiago walked six, hit a batter and allowed three runs on two hits, including a home run. He struck out four. At this point, you have to figure that if he’s going to help the Twins in the short term, it’s out of the bullpen (and that’s even with Mejia going down). Dietrich Enns was tomorrow's scheduled starter, as this broke during the game. At 67-50, the Red Wings are a half game behind Lehigh Valley in the wild card race. Lehigh Valley was still playing at press time. CHATTANOOGA CHATTER Chattanooga - OFF DAY The Lookouts are 32-13 in the second half and 74-41 overall. They have clinched a playoff spot and will host the season-long runner-up (which is a tight 3-team race). Judging from their website (which is selling playoff tickets), it looks like the Lookouts have opted to host Games 1 and 2, which will be played on September 6 and 7. MIRACLE MATTERS Fort Myers 5, Palm Beach 2 Box Score The middle of the order provided the thump and enough offense to push the Miracle to victory on Wednesday evening. The 3-6 batters (Jermaine Palacios, Mitchell Kranson, Brent Rooker and Zander Wiel) went a combined 10-17, driving in two and scoring four runs. Rooker and Wiel both had three hits. The rest of the lineup was 2-19. Starter Lewis Thorpe avoided big damage despite allowing eight hits in five innings. He walked two, struck out five and allowed two runs. The win went to Tom Hackimer who struck out four in two one-hit innings. (Move him up!) Alex Muren collected the save. At 28-18, the Miracle have a two-game lead in the FSL South. KERNELS NUGGETS Cedar Rapids - OFF DAY The Kernels are 20-25 in the second half, but have already clinched a playoff spot by way of finishing as division runners-up in the first half. E-TWINS E-NOTES Elizabethton 6, Greeneville 1 Box Score Edwar Colina pitched six shutout innings, allowing three hits and walking three. He struck out five and picked up his second win of the season. Blair Lasko gave up a run in his lone inning. Jose Martinez struck out two in two innings. Carson Crites had three hits, including a double. He scored a run and drove in a run as well. J.J. Robinson was 2-4 with a home run and 4 RBI. Kolton Kendrick and Rainis Silva each added doubles. The E-Twins have a four-game lead in their division with a record of 29-18. GCL TWINS TAKES GCL Twins 6, GCL Orioles 1 Box Score A balanced offensive attack led the GCL Twins to victory. No batter went hitless and five different guys scored the six runs. Royce Lewis had the lone multi-hit game, going 2-4 with a triple. Jean Carlos Arias had a three-run triple in the seventh inning. Colton Burns, Ricky De La Torre and Taylor Grzelakowski added doubles. Pedro Garcia struck out five in 5.2 scoreless, three-hit innings. His record improved to 6-1. Derek Molina picked up the save striking out six in 3.1 innings. He allowed a run on four hits. The GCL Twins are 23-16. A full slate of games was scheduled in the Twins farm system on Wednesday. The Miracle game was postponed by weather. Stephen Gonsalves looked to continue his winning ways. He was helped by the home run ball. Did Zack Granite’s hitting streak continue? Royce Lewis was hit by a pitch, and it caused some discussion. So much happened in the Twins system on Wednesday. Get caught up on it all here.Find out everything and more that happened happened in the Twins system on Wednesday, starting with the transactions of the day. TRANSACTIONS There were a handful of transactions in the Twins system on Wednesday. Phil Hughes is now back on the Twins roster. He was removed from the disabled list after his stint in the Red Wings bullpen. Craig Breslow was placed on the 10-day DL.Alex Wimmers was outrighted to Rochester after clearing waivers. Later in the day, we learned that Mason Melotakis had also cleared waivers and was outrighted to Rochester. Best case scenario for the Twins.Infielder Dan Gamache has been released. He had spent the season with the Chattanooga Lookouts. Ryan Eades was activated from the disabled list.RED WINGS REPORTRochester 0, Buffalo 3 Box Score Dillon Gee made his first appearance in the Twins organization on Wednesday night when he made the start for the Red Wings. While he spent a couple of days as insurance in the Twins bullpen, he didn’t get into a game. On Wednesday, he was limited to 50 pitches since he hasn’t pitched in nearly two weeks. The right-hander threw three scoreless innings. He gave up one hit, walked one and struck out one, all in 47 pitches. Lefty Matt Tracy came on and gave up three runs over the next two innings. He gave up seven hits and walked two. Alex Wimmers worked two scoreless, perfect innings. The Red Wings’ offense didn’t do much. Engelb Vielma had two of the team’s six hits, including its lone extra base hit, a double. Zack Granite started the game 0-3, but he got a single in his final at bat. He now has a ten-game hitting streak and has hit in 27 of 28 games in June. CHATTANOOGA CHATTER Chattanooga 5, Mississippi 1 Box Score The Lookouts put together a strong, complete game with good pitching and some timely hitting. Stephen Gonsalves was on the mound, and his overall line looks terrific. The left-hander gave up just one run on five hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out five. The run came on a solo homer in that seventh inning. But as impressive as that is, Gonsalves also found a way to work out of some tough situations. Twice, there were two runners on with nobody out and Gonsalves worked out of it. Some was luck. In one instance, Gonsalves threw what would have been a wild pitch, but Dan Rohlfing hustled back and threw to Gonsalves at home in time to get the runner attempting to score. But then Gonsalves got a big strikeout for the second out. It was a good mix of dominating at times and working out of some tough situations as well. Gonsalves improved to 4-3 with a 2.63 ERA in his eight starts since returning from the disabled list. Nick Anderson worked a scoreless eighth inning, and Randy Rosario worked a perfect ninth inning. The Lookouts took the lead with one run in a long second inning. Mississippi’s starter walked four straight batters. Levi Michael’s walk drove in a run. In the third inning, Jonathan Rodriguez hit a solo homer. With two on in the fourth inning, Rodriguez came up and launched a three-run homer to give the Lookouts a 5-0 lead. Rodriguez went 2-4 with a walk and his seventh and eighth homers. Michael went 2-4 with a walk. Nick Gordon was 0-2, though he did walk three times. MIRACLE MATTERS Ft. Myers, Clearwater Box Score Rain won the day in Ft. Myers and caused another postponement. The two teams will try to play a doubleheader on Thursday. Then on Friday, Tim Tebow and the Port St. Lucie Mets will come to Hammond Stadium. KERNELS NUGGETS Cedar Rapids 2, Burlington 5 Box Score Sometimes all it takes is one bad inning, and that’s what happened in Cedar Rapids on Wednesday afternoon. Eddie Del Rosario cruised through the first two innings. After a strikeout began the third frame, he walked the next two batters. They both scored on a double. After another walk, Del Rosario gave up a three-run homer before getting out of the inning, but the damage was done. The Kernels were down 5-1. In all, Del Rosario went 5.1 innings and gave up those five runs. He gave up three hits, walked four and struck out four. Logan Lombana gave up two hits over 1.2 scoreless innings of relief work. Max Cordy then worked two scoreless innings. Ben Rortvedt led the offense. He went 2-3 with a walk in the game. His ninth double scored Amaurys Minier. Minier reached twice on walks. Joe Cronin went 1-2 with two walks. Travis Blankenhorn also walked twice. Hank Morrison had the only other extra-base hit, his first triple with the Kernels. After meeting with a doctor on Tuesday, right-hander Tyler Wells had an MRI on Wednesday. Results should be known in the next day or so. The MRI was given since it was the second time that Wells has experienced this. E-TWINS E-NOTES Elizabethton 4, Kingsport 0 Box Score What a difference a start can make. Maybe Edwar Colina was more relaxed in his second start in the United States. In his first start, the E-Twins season opener, he gave up six runs (four earned) on six hits and three walks in just 4.1 innings. On Wednesday night, it was a different story. Colina threw five shutout innings. In fact, he left the game without giving up a hit. He did still walk four, but he struck out four as well. Jose Martinez came on and gave up a single right away in the 6th, so there wasn’t too much no-no drama. He gave up two hits over 2.2 scoreless innings. He struck out three. Calvin Faucher got the final four outs, two of them by strikeouts. JJ Robinson had a big game. With two runners on base in the first inning, Robinson singled in Trey Cabbage with the first run of the game. In the fifth inning, Wander Javier hit an RBI double to score Andy Cosgrove. But then after a Matt Albanese single to start the top of the 8th, Robinson knocked a two-run homer. It marked his first home run as a pro, and gave the Twins a 4-0 lead. An inning later, it was a 4-0 win. Along with Robinson’s 2-4, outfielder Shane Carrier went 2-4. Albanese was 1-3 with a walk, and Trey Cabbage reached twice on walks. GCL TWINS TAKES GCL Twins 8, GCL Orioles 3 Box Score It was a rough start for the GCL Twins, but the tide quickly changed. Juan Mojica started and gave up three runs and recorded only two outs. Carlos Suniaga came on and got the final out of the first inning and worked four more innings without allowing another run. In fact, he gave up just two hits. Suniaga began the season with Elizabethton and actually worked 3.1 scoreless innings with four strikeouts last week in a game. Amilcar Cruz came on and worked four innings of one-hit, no-run ball for the save. The Twins saw themselves down 3-0 before they even came to bat, but they responded with a six-run bottom of the first inning. A Colton Burns single was followed by walks to Royce Lewis and Jared Akins to load the bases. Benjamin Rodriguez singled to score Burns. Then Victor Tademo added a single that scored Lewis and Akins. Kerby Camacho grounded out, but it was enough to score Rodriguez with the fourth run of the inning. With two outs, Roni Tapia singled to score Tademo. Finally, Humberto Maldonado tripled to score Tapia and give the Twins a 6-3 lead. That’s where the score remained until the bottom of the seventh when the Twins tacked on two more runs. Ricky De La Torre tripled to score Tademo. Tapia then doubled to score De La Torre. Rodriguez went 2-3 with a walk and a triple. Tapia went 2-4 with a double and two RBI. Humberto Maldonado went 2-4 with a triple. Royce Lewis went 0-3, though he also walked and was hit by a pitch. Immediately after being hit, he stole second base. It caused words to be exchanged.
