  1. Colon left due to "illness." Watching him pitch was making Molitor sick...
  2. So, will Molitor bunt? Seems hit and run would be the logical play here.
  3. The alternative is allowing Colon to continue to pitch. I'll take door number one.
  4. Granite? Adrianza? The only hitters the Twins might pinch hit for against the Yankees are Castro and Kepler. In both cases, most likely vs a LHP. Castro could be hit for vs a RHP too though. Probably only going to use Vargas vs RHP. Adrianza is better vs LHP, but not so terrific that he's likely to be used as a pinch hitter over Garver. Adrianza is more likely to be used as a pinch runner and defensive replacement.
  5. What possible purpose does Niko Goodrum serve? At least Garver is marginally competent RH bat.
  6. No, you can't. Because if you don't win the WC game, there is no ALDS. Say Erv doesn't have it and needs to be pulled in the second or even the first. If you don't have someone else rested and ready to step in, your season is over. Given that Gibson is slated to start Friday and Berrios Saturday, it seems like the emergency back up for the WC is Mejia. This is why pushing Gibson back to Friday might not be such a wonderful idea. He was originally slated to start Wednesday. Meaning, he would have been on full rest for the WC. Sure, as it stands now, Gibson or Berrios would be rested for game one of the ALDS. But what if you need one of them (or both) in the wild card game just to get there?
  7. I'm not sure what the relevance of pitching 6 innings plus means for the postseason. The recent trend in the playoffs has beento err on the side of pulling a guy too early rather than leaving him in too long. I'd rather have a guy be effective for 5, heck even 4 innings, then get beaten up slowly over 6 or 7. With all the off days in the playoffs, a team can literally use every reliever in every game for 15-20 pitches.
  8. At this point, all the Indians are playing for is potential home field in the ALCS and the World Series. They'll play to win, to be sure. But they will be smart about it. They will play the guys who need to play, pitch the guys that need to pitch and rest the guys that need to rest.
  9. Santiago? Seriously? Has he even picked up a baseball in the last two weeks?
  10. Rangers and Royals both lost today. So they are both 76-79. Angels are playing the Astros tonight.
  11. Colon may not pitch for the Twins again. His turn would be Monday and they are sure to skip him to keep the other guys on normal rest so Erv is set up for the wild card game. After that his next turn would be Saturday. A game which may mean everything or nothing.
  12. Here's just one example, that happens to be from last night. He pulls Mejia (which, I am actually fine with) to bring in Dillon Gee to face Miguel Cabrera. Cabrera was 4 for 6 with 2 HR against Gee before last night. That Cabrera got a hit that extended the inning and, very briefly, made the game interesting, was entirely predictable. There has to be somebody in that pen that has a better mark than that against Cabrera. That is flat out poor bullpen management.
  13. Ausmus must love bringing in a guy who walks the lead off man, who is hitting .083, in a 12-1 game.
  14. Yeah, I think I would be fine with 1 mound visit in innings 1-6 and 2 from 7 onward. There has been at least 4 this inning so far.
