  1. FWIW, the Twins had 6 baserunners in 3 innings against Severino less than two weeks ago.
  2. Even with Sano, there are only 16 active position players. You would rather have Goodrum as your third string pinch runner than Vargas, who could also change the game with one swing?
  3. The Twins cuffed Severino around pretty good just a few weeks ago. Fortunately, the Yankees biggest HR threats are almost all better vs lhp. The only guys you would want to face a lhp are Gregorious, Ellsbury and Gardner. And the Yanks would likely hit Hicks for Gardner vs lhp. Point being second lefty might not be that crucial. Hildenberger has good numbers vs LHB as well. Boshers was pretty bad the last couple weeks vs the lefties he saw, but I don’t think one can ignore his career mark against them. As for Moya, I didn’t look up his mlb splits because of sss. But in the minors this year, he was much MUCH better vs RHB. Last year, mostly in low A ball, there wasn’t much difference. Point being, he’s not even considered a loogy imo.
  4. Yes. That particular aspect could have been handled better. Literally anyone else facing Romine I would have had no issue. But everyone over the age of 10 in that stadium knew Sano was only in the game to get at bats against MLB pitching.
  5. I doubt Ausmus approached Romine with the idea. It's far more likely that Romine asked for a chance to do it. Obviously, the manager is making the decision, but there is usually no reason to say no for a team out of contention. As for why not at home, short answer is because the Tigers weren't at home. Doing that last week, when the Twins were in Detroit, would have been frowned upon because the games still had meaning. I suppose he could have done it against the White Sox or Angels, but maybe he didn't have the idea until after that.
  6. Would think Giminez or Escobar could do it easily. Both have played most of the positions already. Gimenez might look pretty ugly at 2b or ss, but hopefully nothing would be hit to him in those spots. The only place Escobar hasn't played in his career is first base.
  7. There's very little downside to putting him on the WC roster. Unless the Twins for some reason plan on having more than 10 pitchers, he would take Goodrum's spot. All the other active position players will be on the roster. With 10 pitchers, the choice for the 15th position player is Goodrum or Sano.
  8. He already has thrown 20 pitches. I can't imagine they want him to throw much more than 30.
  9. Kyle doing his best to blow this lead. No way he gets through 5. He'll be lucky to get out of this inning.
  10. I think I would have had Sano start the game as the DH to get an at bat against Boyd. Last weekend pretty much established that the Tigers do not have major leaguers in their bullpen. I'd rather see him swing against the best they have to offer. Only want to give him one at bat? Fine. Pinch hit for him right away. Not that complicated. Thinking outside the box.
  11. They would not have to put Sano on the DL to not include him on WC roster.
  12. Garver has three triples. One double, no. homeruns. He is 4th on the team in triples. Over 500 PA, he would "project" to about 33 triples, which would be the most in MLB since the Titanic sank. Keep in mind, that Garver had 4 career triples as a pro prior to his MLB debut - none since 2015. Maybe this should be under fun with numbers.
  13. Not as long as I can recall, which goes back to late 70s. I don't recall in coming to Winona until the mid 80s, right around when Bunke closed. I went to school with his kids. My family also owned an auto repair shop. So, we knew them well. KFC is on the frontage road, kinda at a funny intersection. There used to be a shoe store across the street, but that's a sports medicine office now.
  14. Hey, Mrs yarnivek and I were there earlier. Anticipatory chicken dinner.
  15. I will say though that Colon should start Sunday. Absolutely no reason to use anyone that might be needed Tuesday in that game. At least not for more than a handful of pitches.
