  1. Baseball tends to be cyclical. Someone will have success with a contact and baserunning approach and the rest of the league will try to copy it. But, I absolutely think the current game where the “3 true outcome” types are valued is ridiculously boring. Homeruns are boring. The most exciting play in baseball? Triple IMO. Anytime there is a play at the plate also. No, I am not sorry they banned violent collisions either. The play at the plate is still exciting without seeing some guy get his head knocked off.
  2. Well, most of them are young compared to Belisle. You’ll find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.
  3. Usually. But some people get upset when the decisions by the FO get questioned.
  4. The Powers that Be just sent Petit down and replaced him with Motter (granted bringing in Belisle was part of that). Point being if they felt Petit was the better choice they presumably they would have found a way to make it work. Not saying they are right, just that Motter over Petit was a choice.
  5. Rogers and Hildenberger should both have options. But, of course Hildenberger might be Molitor’s # 1 option right now. Probably don’t want to lose him for 10 days. Probably don’t want Duke as the only loogy for 10 days either.
  6. Does Magill have an option? It makes zero sense to keep him active when he may not be available until Wednesday.
  7. Of course the joke from 1988. Do you know what the Twins need? Les(s) Straker...
  8. If the reason the Twins aren’t calling up Busenitz, etc is because Molitor has told Falvine he won’t use them in anything but low leverage, then that responsibility needs to be taken from him.
  9. How can there be playing time consequences for mental errors? Look at the bench.
  10. I think the last MVP on a sub .500 team was A-Rod with the Rangers like 10-15 years ago. The voters tend to give the award to guys on contending teams. Speaking of which, the Indians have a pretty good third baseman as well.
  11. Or maybe use Magill in those closer games until he proves he isn’t capable of doing so? The guys Molitor is using now are already losing games. What difference does it make if it is Reed losing or Magill?
  12. Here’s my question. What makes people think Carter would be better than Morrison? Morrison has basically the same numbers at the MLB level as Carter at AAA.
  13. Pressly is still on pace to appear in almost 90 games. No one in MLB appeared in even 80 last year. Last year the highest game total was Rogers’ 69 and the most bullpen innings were Duffey’s 71. The Twins have THREE guys on pace to pitch over 70 bullpen innings. Molitor actually eased up last week. Of course, part of that was some non-competitive games. Going into last week, the situation was even more ridiculous.
  14. The number of pitches between innings is 8. Not sure if that is also before the first or not. Pitches thrown by the starter are going to be the same every start. Maybe not for each individual, but I would guess simillar total number depending on their repertoire and their experience. But certainly every starter will stick to pretty close to the exact same routine every time out. You can be certain those throws are dutifully monitored and logged.
  15. There are 7 other guys out there. The only one who thinks Molitor needs to use Reed everyday is Molitor.
  16. Taylor Motter wouldn’t be considered too old. Never good though.
  17. Belisle already filled Petit’s. Presumably Taylor Motter would be the other call up. I really can’t see a situation where having literally no backup for Escobar, Adrianza or Dozier makes sense.
  18. I didn’t even notice Motter on the 40 man until I just looked. I would assume he and Mauer take the two open roster spots.
  19. If the Twins get swept by Cleveland, they will be 9 back and 11 games under .500. Did you see the Twins offense this week? Which do you think is more likely, sweeping Cleveland or getting swept by them? There’s a fine line between optimism and blind homerism IMO.
  20. Petit’s time in roster purgatory isn’t even finished yet. He figures to clear waivers, but if I am correct they would still have to outright him at that time and would still have to wait another 10 days before purchasing his contract. And, they would have wasted his “outright” eligible status. Poor roster management.
