  1. Said it once. Will say it a thousand times. He'll make a good bullpen guy with those 2 pitches. Not a consistent starter. Haley doesn't look ready to even be hid as a long guy. Duffey in the fifth/sixth seems like most likely scenario.
  2. For better or worse, Twins seem content with OF depth at ML level. Rosario can play CF. Santana as well. Those guys can shuffle around a little bit. Now, if Buxton suffers a serious injury, that's a whole nuther deal.
  3. Now the difficult part. Developing these young arms into major leaguers. Falvey's expertise in Cleveland was pitching. Let's hope he's the change Twins needed 5 years ago.
  4. To me, Gibson may be the biggest factor in whether or not that staff gets better. 200 innings, 4.00 ERA would go a long way toward providing some stability and allow Molly to use whatever bullpen he has to whatever strengths it will have.
  5. Obviously no one in their right mind can expect Buxton to keep up what he did in September. But how nice is it to just see him look comfortable, hitting the ball hard, getting on base and playing his usual unbelievable defense?
  6. The success of Johan Santana has really skewed people's idea of Rule 5 value. What's being thrown around here is about all you can reasonably hope for from a Rule 5 pick. I love Haley in that long relief role. I also completely agree with leaving Duffey, Berrios and Mejia at AAA so they can start. I still believe Duffey's long-term value will be in the bullpen, but let's see this whole starting thing out with him.
  7. My board is exactly ONE deep. Hunter Greene. In what looks like a weak draft, he probably has the most upside. And he has a "fall back" option in that if pitching doesn't seem to work out, they could move him to a position and at least get something out of the pick. At the very least, he may develop into a closer.
  8. 100% agree on Duffey and O'Rourke. No sane reason to have Tonkin or Breslow on a ML 25-man roster.
  9. 1) Prefer Gimenez as the backup and Garver at AAA catching 4-5 days a week, but I don't think that'll happen b/c they'd have to get Gimenez on 40 man. 2) Curious of Duffey in the bullpen...think he could be really good there. 3) Fine with Berrios to AAA to start season. First injury he's back up...likely to stay as other pitchers get hurt and others come off DL. 4) I want to see Rosario play 130 games in LF. Time to find out if the kid is getting better or not...Grossman is not a long-term answer, but just a 4th OF. Buxton plays 145 in CF, with Rosario sliding to CF. Kepler 145 in RF, with a few days at DH. Grossman fills in the blanks, pinch hits.
  10. Any thoughts on the overlap of Gordon and Javier both being SS? Nice to have the depth in the organization with the complete struggles to develop an every day SS, but at some point decisions will have to be made. Doesn't seem like either one is likely to hit enough to move to the OF. Polanco looks like 2nd baseman of the future.
  11. I've seen Aybar's name thrown around as a possible SS option. Perhaps sign him, make Polanco that super-utility guy Santana has been and give Santana the boot.
  12. Rather have Fister than Hammel. Bringing NL pitchers to the AL was Terry Ryan's downfall and Fister has had success in the AL. I'd rather see Gonsalves than Hammel. Anything and everything that improves the bullpen should open for discussion.
