Whenever a business decides to do this, it's prudent to have a tranquilizer handy, for there is safety in numb bears.

I understand that the Twins will have difficult choices to make this fall for the 40-person roster, but I am sorry to lose Brian Navaretto. Of course, I was also sorry to lose Bobby Kielty, so what do I know.

I was at a game at the Met during which the Guthrie Theatre (in preparation for the play Julius Caesar) requested that the crowd yell "Hail Caesar," after which Tovar came out of the dugout and tipped his hat.

Mike: I agree with your assessment, but did not see his name for 1961. -

In 1968 I ushered a few games at the Met. One pre-game Jackie Hernandez was making very bad throws to the first baseman - a lefthander - wish I could remember his name. A coach emerged from the dugout and said (I wasn't real close so this may not be word-for-word): "Mr. Hernandez, why are you throwing so badly?" Hernandez, pointing to the first baseman, said, "He wanted me to do that." Coach replied (again, I wasn't real close) "Please refrain from doing that."

The last 3 games he has been very good: 3GS, 13 IP, 12 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 18 K. The problem I have with that line is the 3-1/3 IP/GS.
