  1. I always thought the Twins did Schoop a little dirty last year. Of course Arraez had a great year and deserved some playing time, but Schoop pretty much performed whenever he played and is a very good defender (better defender than Arraez). Maybe they had enough bombas and wanted one guy that hit for average. I'd love a reason to bust out my Twins Schoop jersey!
  2. I thought I read something where he said he wasn't upset with the Twins about the arbitration case and understands the business part of baseball. Sorry I don't have the link but it might have been from mlbtraderumors.com. Very similar to what he said when they ended talks about about an extension last year. He should understand that they have assembled a good team even though he might not personally like some of these decisions, it is clear this front office is trying to win a World Series.
  3. Franmil Reyes is also a blooming stud. His numbers dipped after he was traded from San Diego but I think he'll bounce back. I'm a big fan of his, was bummed to see him traded to Cleveland.
  4. This looks like the pitching staff in Major League. I would much rather have Smeltzer/Thorpe/Dobnak than these guys. If we could sign guys week to week then Cahil and Edwin Jackson might be worth a start or two.
  5. I don't think this is just an Eddie thing, although he probably is the biggest hothead on the team. This is a Twins thing. They are all about having fun and keeping things loose. I like that, but there's a happy medium. Running around with a stuffed squirrel and all of these elaborate hand shakes and high fives are cool, but bat flips and watching your dong instead of running, not great in my opinion. The Twins themselves promote this kind of behavior. If you follow their instagram account they are always posting bat flips in slow motion and crap like that. It is not just an Eddie thing, it's a Twins culture thing.
  6. I can't fathom what Gibson was trying to accomplish with the 92 mph meatball he threw Abreu. The only thing that would even remotely make sense is if he was trying to go inside and left it over the plate. You can throw that pitch to Abreu 10 times and he'll crank it out of the park 9 times. Home run derby type of pitch.
  7. I think I'm in the minority that thinks we don't really need much. I don't think we need a starter. I'd like to see something cheap but helpful for relief. I think a trade for Tony Watson at SF makes a ton of sense.
  8. I still like Harper quite a bit. I think maybe he was feeling a little too good about his fastball because he was hitting 91 consistently and I think I saw 92 a few times. That's a nice improvement from the 89 he normally throws. Bad decision on Correa, but that's a good lineup and a very good hitter.
  9. Pretty terrible game overall from Buxton. I was pretty disappointed when he went erratically flailing into the wall. Here you have a guy pitching who has a 30 inning scoreless streak, and you do something stupid like that. He should have played it off the wall and let the guy get a double and trust he will get out of the inning just fine. He also laid down forever before finally getting up and getting the ball. Yeah, that hurts..don't do it if you can't take the pain. Maybe if we had Matt Capps in there you go for it, and you're right, what a terrible route.
  10. Do you think Buxton has any right to be upset about how he was managed towards the end of last season? I know if I performed terribly at my job I would be fired or at least disciplined, and I don't make boatloads of money like he does. I like that he responded by worked out like crazy and working on his skills in the offseason, but I don't think that being a top pick should guarantee anything. I get that he was heating up in Rochester toward the end of the year, but come on baseball is a business. Maybe he needed this wake up call to get him motivated to work out like an animal this offseason.
