  1. So sick of all these starter reclamation projects that work out once every ten years
  2. Well somehow the vaunted Detroit tigers are indeed human. They’re down 12-0 in the 6th and haven’t had a base runner against the Yankees
  3. I found an exclusive picture of the twins trainers helping to keep our players healthy and on the field
  4. So now a baseball message board is the arbiter of medical information and commentary and who is allowed to state an opinion? Lol get real. There are a million boards where people can argue about that stuff. A baseball team specific site should not be one of them, but I do give you credit for stating the site’s bias, I guess
  5. Then what kind of take is it? Is it a baseball take because I’ve been told that’s all that’s allowed here outside of the “sports bar” forum? Anyway, back to work have a good day!
  6. Do people who donate to TD get different posting guidelines than people who don’t?
  7. Too bad a side effect of the vaccine isn’t competently managing a bullpen.
  8. Methinks the powers that be knew exactly what type of response this post would get. Don’t act shocked when people respond to trolling
  9. No way Jose, us “anti vaxxers” aka “grandma killers” are to be seen and not heard
  10. A team as limited in relievers simply can’t do the 3-6 (closer to 6) pitcher a game thing. Sure it will work sometime but there are just too many unreliable relievers to expect to hold a marginal lead, which we usually have because we can’t hit worth a hill of beans. I don’t understand refusing to adjust to what best suits the makeup of the team.
  11. Duran is suited for the role he’s in. Trying to make him a starter would be disastrous.
  12. Modern baseball sometimes tries to get too cute for its own good, to the point of annoyance. The “closers are overrated” trope appeared again today in defense of putting our best reliever into the game in the 6th inning. Duran should be the closer until proven otherwise. Not the 6th inning guy. Not the 7th inning guy. Maybe the 8th inning guy if you’re planning on making him go two innings. But he’s the closer. Stop relying on guys like pagan and duffey and Jax to pitch the 8th/9th. In fact, pagan should never appear past the 7th inning. How much more do fans need to see until they realize he is terrible at closing games? As I said in the GDT, if we’re forced to use unreliable relievers, I’d rather see them in the 6th or 7th. That way, we have more at bats to come back if they cough up the lead.
  13. Yes you did leave something out, context. Allowing runs in a blowout game is less meaningless than having three blown saves in the 8th inning alone as pagan does (plus a loss). Duran has one. now you’re trying to present stats to make an argument that contradicts your statement that Duran is better than pagan. Weird
  14. Yes we know, especially when you can pick ‘em to suit your narrative
  15. Because there’s a thing called playing the percentages which you apparently don’t believe in because “closets are overrated”.
  16. Did I say no one is capable of holding a lead? That’s an awfully big leap you’ve made. Pagan is CAPABLE of holding a lead, he’s just more likely to NOT hold one
  17. Exactly. The closer is “overrated” on teams that have plenty of reliable relievers. We don’t have that
  18. and by the way, Joe smith has had a good year but has been shaky lately
  19. dude I love Duran but no manager is going to ASSUME that there won’t be a base runner over two innings facing the “best Detroit hitters”. Even if he allowed one base runner an inning your whole plan is out of whack. Duran did it because he’s really good but any deviation from a perfect outing scenario destroys your plan and I’d bet most managers aren’t managing that way in the 6th inning
