  1. I think the Twins should offer him 10 years for 300. Front load the contract, first 3 years 35/season for the $105, the next 4 years at $30/season for $120 and the last 3 years at$25/season for $75. When we were doing our work sheets for payroll this year, I think the Twins didn’t have much money tied up in the future. We have a lot younger pitchers coming up. So when they start to hit free agency Correa’s contract will start going down. The Twins must of already planned on paying the first 3 years. This will leave them with trade options with the young players in the minors.
  2. This is exactly what I think. I see Martin in LF and Lewis at 3rd in the future. I think the best move for the Twins would be to sign Story. These moves in the long run would create incredible depth to trade from. Keep Martin and use his incredible bat skills to the table setter for years to come.
  3. I’ve been advocating for Story for awhile. I believe even if you want to keep Lewis and Martin. Lewis can move to 3rd and Martin to left. If Lewis by some miracle ends up being a stud SS, you can trade Story or he could move to 3rd. Just think of the trade assets you end up with. Here is a part of a fan graphs article on Story. Story is a new-age shortstop on offense; he’s more slug than on-base, though he’s made great strides when it comes to limiting strikeouts in recent years. It’s not just a Coors effect, though; he’s put up strong park-adjusted power numbers year after year. That power and Story’s 6-foot-2 frame would lead you to believe that he’s a shift-enabled shortstop, only out there because of advances in defensive positioning. That couldn’t be further from the truth; he’s shown above-average range, a strong arm, and excellent hands. He’s been one of the most consistent shortstop defenders since reaching the majors in 2016.
  4. I read some of this and think wow! The young pitching the Twins have is crazy. I believe I must be an optimist because I think some of these young pitchers are going to have a great year. Might start out slow but ramp up midsummer. I also believe it’s very important that the front office gets this season right. They have to figure out who to keep and who to trade. (Maybe not this year) I remember watching Johan pitching out of the bullpen his first year and everyone who was watching the Twins were saying, let this kid start. You could just see it in him. With this young pitching, I believe the biggest hole on the Twins is SS. I think the pitching is going to step up!
  5. I think the Twins should sign Story. Trade Miranda or (Lewis) + who ever for a starting controlable pitcher. Let Lewis or (Miranda) play 3rd after next year. I’m not sure if they would have money to also get Rodón but I think this team would win the central. If you need to clear more room salary wise, trade Donaldson.
  6. Kind of like when they signed Maurer and everyone was ok with his production falling off?
  7. I believe you have to try and sign Buxton first. If he doesn’t, I believe you have to trade him. I posted this very trade at the trade deadline on another site. I received some flack for it but SD didn’t make the playoffs and the manager was fired! SD is in a win now mode. They should not be holding back at all. Just think of the well balanced lineup they could have on the cheap for years to come. 1st-Kirilloff 2nd-Polanco 3rd-Miranda SS-Abrams Lf-Martin Cf-Lewis Rf-Larnach 4th outfielder Kepler DH-Sano UI-Arraez(Lewis, Martin or Polanco backup SS???) Pitching: (spend the savings on pitching) 1-Thor 2-Jon Gray 3-Ryan 4-Gore 5-Pineda/Ober? Young studs in the minors to come fill in when needed. May take a year to grow but I think they would start playing as a team. A lot of table setters with some power players sprinkled in. Some other players in the minors, if a trade needs to be made later.
  8. If we’re throwing out names that were former Twins, here’s one. After the 1997 season, Knoblauch was traded to the Yankees in exchange for four players (including two future All-Stars, Eric Milton and Cristian Guzmán) and US$3 million.
  9. Man did I love watching Doug Mientkiewicz play 1st base. His stretch was amazing! You talk about Koskie play at 3rd but a lot of the defense abilities of the infield was because of Doug digging balls out of the dirt and his stretch.
  10. I’m ok with a sinker ball pitcher that puts the ball in play, especially with the defense setting up the way it is.
  11. Andrelton Simmons will be the Twins' starting shortstop, he just signed
  12. I’ve been saying this for weeks. If you could get Story to do a sign and trade, I would include Buxton and Sano and a young pitcher, not one of the 3 top pitching prospect in a trade for Gray and Story. People ask why would Story not sign with Colorado and then sign with the Twins? Money and a chance to win. Not sure if Colorado can do a big contract with all the money tied to Aranado and Blackman. We also have a stud that was the top pick in the draft that played CF in the Arizona Fall league. If Story is locked in at SS Lewis can play CF and play great defense! You have to make a move to get some of the HR back from the loss of Eddie and Cruz. Story will help with this and actually Lewis might also, not much, but Buxton doesn’t hardly hit any. I have been hearing how the White Sox’s have moved past the Twins in the Central. They are making moves to help their window to win the Central and win Playoff Games! The Twins window is closing because they think that can win without ever making a move. If you were born around 1960 to 1975 you have very found memories of 1987 and 1991 Twins the only winning you have ever witnessed. No Vikings, Timberwolves, or Wild (North Stars). 87 and 91 made us lifetime fans! In 87 and 91 they made some moves. (Blyleven, Morris and Stewart) Do something! Don’t sell the farm but don’t let the White Sox’s win the Central without doing anything. People keep talking about not making a trade because it may weaken the minor league’s. Well, I guess you can now go across the river and watch the Saint Paul Saints win a playoff game and championship!
  13. I actually think Lewis is the next man up for CF.
  14. TopGunn#22 Yesterday, 05:42 PM I thought I had read somewhere that Marquez and/or Gray could be had. The Rockies are not going to be contenders anytime soon. They have McMahan at 1B but he's also their 2B.Murphy is gone.Power plays in Coors. That's why I have mentioned Sano to the Rockies on occasion. They could use him. To get Marquez or Gray Colorado may also want a young pitching prospect.Maybe Enlow or Canterino.I'd love to include one of them and get Brendan Rogers back as well, but I think Colorado wants to keep him around to take over for Story when he's gone. Rogers could be our IF utility guy but that ain't happening. How about Sano, Garver, Edwar Colina and Canterino for Story & Marquez/Gray ?? _______________ I’ve been saying this for weeks. 15. I was listening on MLB Radio today, do you know what team they brought up about not taking the extra step to make a difference. They brought up Hunter, Cuddy, Justin Morneau and I think Santana. They said they should of signed them but the biggest problem they said is they have a window and they wouldn’t take the step to get over the top. They are repeating it now! Win two ALCentral tiles and they can’t even win a playoff game. Cleveland and KC have windows and they go out and get them a player to take them over the top. They also reap the benefits of selling tickets and merchandise. They also brought up how the Tigers are rebuilding and should have a window soon. The White Sox’s are young and improving. We are going to miss our window. Make a move or just keep loosing playoff games. I’ve been a Twins fan my whole life, but I moved to Wyoming and the Rockies have been my NL team since they became a team. I actually make it to far more Rockies game than Twins game. The Rockies pushed all of there chips in. I’ve been to WS game in Colorado and been to an opening day game. I brought this trade up so both teams would benefit. I think the Rockies are more exciting when they play good defense and when they hit BOMBS!!! The Twins time is now! Make a move. P.S. when they built Target Field it was supposed to bring in more revenue.
  16. I’m ok with adding another piece. (Pitcher) I believe the Rockies number one prospect is a SS. I think overall it makes both teams better in the long run. I do believe it’s Grays last year of arbitration. I think eventually they will trade him for something. I don’t see him signing an extension in Colorado.
  17. The SP should be set with some ML players next man up? Meada Gray or Marquez Duran/Balazovic Berios Pinda
  18. TopGunn#22 Today, 03:33 PM I'm not sure the haul would be as high as you project.Reading MLB trade rumors or other sites, it seems like the Mets are able to acquire all sorts of guys for one good prospect and then their #11 and #20 prospect. On one hand, it's never productive to assume you can get someone like Snell for your #4,#11 and #20 prospect. On the other hand, it seems like you shouldn't have to assume that it will take Kiriloff/Larnach and Balazovic. There was a article written on this site about whether the Twins should trade for Snell. It was very informative. It pointed out how good Snell can be while also pointing out he's basically a 5-Inning pitcher. Now, when I watched him in the playoffs I didn't think he was a 5-inning guy.And I think Tampa royally screwed up removing him not once, but TWICE.That said, PITCHING covers up a LOT of deficiencies.Witness the 1965/1966 Dodgers (the 1988 Dodgers for that matter as well).Getting Snell just fortifies an already solid area.I still think you could offer Sano in a package for Snell and use Kiriloff/Rooker/Larnach in a 1B/LF rotation. The hell with service time!!The Braves move their prospects up the ladder in the system, so why can't we??Maybe one of the three doesn't pan out, but let's find out.Tampa should be intrigued by Sano's power. It's not like I want to GIVE him away. But we will be a better lineup with those 3 kids top to bottom and Tampa can enjoy the occasional 3-run bomb.Otherwise, trade Sano to Colorado for Marquez or Gray (or in a package for Story) and let him hit 40 Bombs for the Rockies. The Dodgers and Padres have put Colorado waaaay back in the rearview mirror. The Rockies are going to have to tear down and rebuild. We should be talking to them. I agree the Twins should be looking to trade with Colorado. They used to do trade and signings in MLB. Trade Buxton, Sano and prospects for Marquez or Gray and Story. Story for sure would have to be a sign and trade. Move Royce to CF hopefully not only filling in for Buxton but hitting is better. Extra OF could play first, they have played this in the minors before. The OF and INF would be set for the next five years? The money you save on young players you invest in pitching or extending the core. If you believe you can turn Gray or Marquez into an ace extend them. For Colorado Buxton and Sano get a fresh start. Sano hits 50 hr in Colorado plays good FB. Buxton hits 30+ home runs and covers the expansive OF in Colorado with ease. Maybe a couple of years of MVP caliber play.
  19. Could you imagine the infield hitting! 3rd Donaldson SS Story 2nd Palonco 1st Sano The outfield should hit like studs too. Kepler, Kirilloff and Larnach Then Rooker could be next guy up if someone doesn’t perform.
