  1. It’s too bad we couldn’t keep him around.
  2. I’m happy for Celestino. And definitely wouldn’t mind going after Upton either.
  3. Twins are taking on $6.6 million of Rogers’ salary. Essentially the Padres are paying him the minimum. Strange.
  4. I was on board with this until Rogers got involved in negotiations. That will make the bullpen a big weakness. I’m not sure Alcala is ready to be a closer.
  5. I’m quite bullish on this team doing better than most think around here. As long as they don’t give up too early with selling veteran players for prospects. The pitching pipeline is finally here and I have high aspirations that a couple will pop off. By June I’d love to see Alcala, Duran, and Rogers settle in as the late inning, high leverage options out of the pen. Winder’s stuff is nasty and he will hopefully be stretched out early on to take over a starting role. Balazovic, Sands, and many others are knocking at the door. The offense is still very good. Buxton is an MVP candidate if he plays more than 120 games. Sano is not completely lost at the plate to begin a season. Polanco is one of the best 2B in baseball. I’m thinking upper 80s wins right now with the potential to be over 90 if they stay the course and get help at the deadline.
  6. Cueto ends up with the White Sox on a minor league deal.
  7. Manaea’s just not that good. I don’t think we’re missing out on anything.
  8. Looking more and more like Winder is making the opening day roster.
  9. The prospects definitely need to step up. It’s time to put the pitching pipeline to the test. If we’re trending towards 90 losses again, it’s fair to ask what exactly are we building here with Falvey and Levine?
  10. No, he’s not ramped up yet endurance wise.
  11. They should be able to cobble something together as long as they don’t experience the same injury bug as last year. Projection sites pegged them as an 80 win team before the Correa signing… I think there are too many simply replaying last year’s results when everything that could go wrong did go wrong.
  12. Still in the 80-89 range. If Correa is here all season and we don’t give up too soon, upper 80s.
