  1. I hope the Twins pass on this guy. Nowhere on this resume does it scream I can shut someone down.
  2. He would be an excellent choice as a second rounder, however I do not think he will last that long. Definite reach at 2.
  3. I agree, the Twins need pitching help that will rise quickly through the minors. High school players need time to develop and while there are a lot of great prospects out there the Twins need to think about the very near future. Unless of course there is a big time arm out there that throughs in the upper 90's and has a minimum of three out pitches. The Twins (sad to say) would pass on that guy because he does not pitch to contact.
  4. Heck, in hindsight who wouldn't take Lester for Santana straight up? At one point if I remember correctly Bucholz and Lester were on the table at the same time.
  5. With the 2nd pick of the draft we are sure to get a nice prospect however its the later picks that separate the men from the boys. Here's hoping that the Twins keep an eye on Alex Wood.
  6. Agreed. Pitching to contact is a good philosophy for ground ball pitchers and 4th or 5th starters. The top of the rotation has to be able to make batters miss. During the playoffs every batter is going to be patient and do all the things he should be doing so you need guys who can strikeout the side. Look at the teams that advance in the playoffs and find one that pitches to contact.
  7. Amen..... It can't be the same for everyone.
  8. 1000% agreed. The Twins play their best when Span is on base and creating havoc. Now if we can find someone to bat second and get on base then we will have something. Mauer's rbi totals are low because we never have anyone on base for him to drive in.
  9. I agree with Fanatic Jack, The Twins have made some weird moves that defy logic or a real plan. These days you have to have a great bullpen and if we got a kid that shows real promise as a reliever than why on earth are we trying to amke him a starter?
  10. Just what the Twins need.... another High ERA pitcher who can be dominant at times and falls apart at others. If Dickens wrote a novel about the Twins would he call it " A Tale of Two Lirianos"?

    The Twins Academy

Well that seems to answer my question of how come I never hear anything from Venezuela anymore. I stand corrected on the level of activity. I do however think we are missing a gold mine with latin players.... Open a new academy in the Dominican, Panama or Columbia.
  12. At what point do we say enough is enough with Liriano? He clearly never regained his form from his rookie year. At best Liriano can get hot for a month. The Twins need to trade him to a team and try and salvage something for him.

    The Twins Academy

Venezuela has produced a number of good ballplayers over the years, some even for the Twins. What has our academy produced in the last 10 years? Can't think of anything? Neither can I, and that my friends is the problem. Where is the pipeline of talent? Why is it that the Yankees always have prospects to trade for established stars? Because they pour money into their international signings and develop players abroad. The Twins have an Academy where pretty much no other team does and yet I can't name one player to come from there. So here is my solution to the whole shebang.... Think of the Academy as a minor league team. Send the low level prospects there.... Send top notch coaching therre.... Send American players there.... If the Twins want a certain type of player, a certain style of play than coach the kids in the Academy to play that way. Actively recruit and sign Venezuelan players, south american players and Central American players. Make the Minnesota Twins the "home" team in Venezuela.
