  1. I was telling a buddy of mine a month ago that Gibson seems like he hit a wall, and his stats are showing that as well. Gibby went from being so consistent, a guy we could very much count on for a quality start, to now he's throwing a quality start 50% of the time. Lets give Gibby 2 starts off and let him rest. Insert our boy JO!
  2. Do any of our Single A starters get bumped here at the end of the Season to help out AA with their starting pitching? AA starters have kind of been all over the place this season. Just a thought.......
  3. Plouffe would strictly be a super utility type player for us next year. He can give the 3 musketeers a day off once in awhile, Sano, and Mauer, and it won't affect our lineup for once, and when he isn't doing that then he can play DH. Injuries happen, so why not keep some good depth like Plouffe. Good attitude, hard worker, great clubhouse guy, sweet beard, hot wife, etc.... I'd spend $6mil or so a year on him no problem. Do it for just 2016, and by then guys like Kepler, Walker, Michael, Harrison should be really close or ready to go in 2017. I'd rather have Plouffe as my DH/Utility anyday over Arcia, Vargas, Pinto, and Hunter. Just my 2 cents.
  4. I think our 4th OF should be Plouffe next year. He can play LF/RF (whichever he likes most), 3b (giving Sano a day off once in awhile), 1b (giving Joe a day off once a week), and be our primary DH. I just don't think Arcia will ever have a higher ceiling than Plouffe. Funny how much love Arcia has from us Minnesota Fans, but Hicks just got obliterated on here for 2+ years. Now Hicks is playing the best ball of his life the last 6 weeks or so, and Arcia couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat in AAA, but yet everyone still thinks Arcia deserves a spot, etc. I agree that we roll with Rosario (LF), Buxton (CF), and Hicks (RF), and that our 4th OF should be a thumper (play mostly DH and act as a 4th OF). The 3 musketeers can sub for each other, put the thumper (Plouffe, like I mentioned above) wherever he feels best whether that be LF or RF.
  5. Not that impressed for the fact we just gave up a top SP arm in our system for a 31 year old BP guy whose K rate isn't all that great. Thankfully we have quite a few top SP arms in our system in the High A to AAA. Hopefully worth the gamble. Hmm....Ugh......
  6. I said on Twitter to Brandon Warne, Seth Stohs, and Jeremy Nygaard about a week ago that we need to shut Alex Meyer down, and send him to Fort Myers to get some 1 on 1 coaching. Brandon didn't agree with me, but I'm happy to see I'm not the only Rube with this idea. Meyer is doing nothing in AAA right now, except losing games, or putting games even more out of hand. Sad to see.... I'd love to get Shields and Benoit for Stewart/Arcia/Nolasco/PTBNL
  7. Switch spots IMO, that's what should've happened to begin with. Typical Twins move.....
  8. Boyer and Fien are out of time! I don't think they could even strike me out. Ha! Duensing can chew up some innings in games that are already decided. He's actually pitched okay as of late. I love that we moved Meyer to the BP, but he hasn't been able to harness this role either. Is Meyer hiding an injury possibly? I like Oliveros, but he can't stay healthy. I agree with pretty much everyone in this thread, that we need to go get a guy who can strike people out. Locked down the 8th and 9th inning. Once we get that figured, I think that'll motivate the other 5 guys in our Bullpen as well. Nobody has a role really except for Perkins, and I think it's starting to show its true colors.
  9. What is Adam Brett Walker's batting average with Runners on base and nobody on base? Stats tell me (the box score guy) that he's clutch. Thanks,
  10. The Twins are rebuilding, so no need to rent a player! Trade your prospects for Stars/Proven numbers that have at least 1+ years remaining after this year, or Escobar/Nunez take over. NO RENTALS unless we give them practically nothing in return! Having fun watching them contend now, really can't wait till 2016!!!!!!!!!
  11. If we are going to make a trade for SS, then I say lets do it and make a splash! TULOWITZKI!!!!! Trade: Kohl Stewart, Jorge Polanco, Oswaldo Arcia, Taylor Rogers By us getting Tulo for 5 years, he can play SS for the next 2+ years till Nick Gordon is ready than he can move over to 3b. Batting Lineup: 1. Dozier - 2b 2. Mauer - 1b 3. Tulo - SS 4. Sano - DH 5. Plouffe - 3b 6. Hunter - RF 7. Rosario - LF 8. Hicks - CF 9. Suzuki - C By us adding Tulowitzki, I think that he'll be enough to give us that extra push to get into the playoffs and catch the Royals! I'm fine with giving up 3-4 prospects as long as it isn't renting a player for a few months. In this case, it's for 5 years.
  12. I think it all comes down to this for the Twins. Do we keep Plouffe, or do we keep Arcia?! We keep Plouffe, then Sano is DH and plays 1-2 games at 3b a week, Plouffe plays 3b and 1b, and Mauer plays 1b and DH 1-2 games a week. We keep Arcia, then Sano is full time 3b, and Hunter and Arcia rotate RF and DH, and Mauer will DH 1-2 games a week, so Sano will have to cover 1b during those days, and Nunez will play 3b then. After looking at those scenario's, I'm more in favor of keeping Plouffe I think, but to me it's a coin flip, because Arcia has the higher ceiling, but his attitude is a problem and really affects his play.
  13. I say we roll with Suzuki and Fryer for the rest of this year, and Pinto can gather himself in AAA, great, then that gives us 3 catchers. I personally think that adding a SS and an 8th inning guy who can strike batters out is more important. SS Targets: Tulo - we'd have to probably part with Buxton, Sano, or Berrios plus 2-3 other players, not sure i'm ready to sell the house yet, but Tulo would look great on our squad!!!! I feel like a Gonsalves or Hu, Polanco, Walker, and something top 30 prospect player. Castro - He's a buy low guy right now i think, not sure he's much better then Escobar currently Jed Lawrie - He'll be returning from injury in the next 2-3 weeks i think, and we could buy him low Just a few ideas........... assuming we trade for Tulo here's our 2016 Lineup: 1. Buxton - CF 2. Dozier - 2b 3. Tulowitzki - SS 4. Sano - DH/3b 5. Mauer - 1b/DH 6. Plouffe - 3b/1b 7. Rosario - LF 8. Hicks/Arcia - RF 9. Suzuki/Fryer/Pinto - C I'm drooling right now..........
  14. I really think it's time to start making some moves again within the affiliates. Danny Ortiz to Twins, quit playing Escobar and Robinson please!!! Escobar at SS only! Robinson is a 4th OF or a pinch runner! Sano to Twins, DH and play 3rd 1-2 times a week, Vargas back to AAA or trade Kepler to Rochester, september callup Walker to Rochester, september callup Polanco to Twins, everyday SS, Santana back to AAA or trade asap Twins need to release Aaron Thompson bring up Achter, Oliveros, or Darnell Twins should consider trading: Oswaldo Arcia, hope he can slowly rebound down in AAA in the next week or 2 Danny Santana, package him in with somebody Mike Pelfrey, reality is coming back, contract up after the year Kennys Vargas, we don't need 4-5 guys to play DH, odd man out with some value Brian Duensing, package him as well, everyone likes a lefty bullpen arm If the right player comes along throw in 1-2 top 15 prospects as well.
  15. Neither should be the Twins Future SS IMO. Santana is having some plate issues, and average defense. Polanco is avg-above avg offense with terrible defense. I'd be looking to trade 1 or the other along with Pelfrey and another prospect for a proven SS! We can't keep changing our SS every other game, and different batting lineups every other game. Consistency wins, and since the injury bug hit us about a month ago, our record has showed us just that. If we don't trade for a SS, then bring up Polanco, and lets roll with him as our "everyday" SS!!!
