  1. How much longer before Pagan is DFAd? I know it's not all solely his fault, but he appears to be the poster boy for these bullpen meltdowns.
  2. A common symptom in teams with a significant shortage of "professional" hitters, with all due respect to Luis Arreaz (sp). A symptom we've had for far too many seasons now, save for the Bomba squad of 2019.
  3. Also known as playing down to the perceived level of your opposition, a trait we've become quite good at in the relatively recent past.
  4. So am I. Lately, it's becoming easier and easier to find any excuse to not turn the game on. Sadly, I think the free fall has begun. Say hello to sub-.500 very soon. Sigh!!!
  5. Agreed. And it's likely to get a lot worse before it gets noticeably better.
  6. In that case, we're in a world of hurt, because, IMHO, we're sorely lacking in viable internal options. Doesn't matter if you're talking pitching or hitting.
  7. Between their regular 1st round pick and the compensatory pick after the 1st round, I'd like to see at least one pitcher drafted. College or highly rated prep arm doesn't really matter to me, as long as it's someone that can be reasonably projected out as a starter.
  8. I agree completely with Nick on this assessment. While I'd like to say that I'm surprised by this development, I'm really not. Something needs to be done to significantly affect the heart and soul of this team because it seems more often than not in recent years that when the going got tough, especially in the post season, the Twins collapsed like a house of cards. I don't have an answer for that, but I sure hope someone in the organization does.
  9. Nice opportunity for someone to step into Gibson's next 1 or 2 starts and show the team that they at least might have what it takes to earn a roster spot next season. I hope that the UC conditions are at least partly to blame for the quality of his pitching much of the season. I also hope he can get the condition at least somewhat under control. Can't be enjoyable trying to be a major league pitcher with that condition.
  10. Agree with the logic. However, I'm not sure that MLB would allow a non-roster player in the dugout for this purpose. I'm also guessing that the opposing team would need to buy off. Unlikely that would happen.
  11. We all know he needs to retain a positive outlook and stay with a positive message. However, I have to wonder, realistically, how much he and the coaching staff can and are doing with the cards they were dealt.
  12. Too bad it won't be. Although I hope it doesn't happen that way, I can easily see the Twins losing 2 of 3 at home to the Tigers, with the way we've been playing lately.
  13. Problem in the first game was that the pitching staff mostly forgot to show up (again). It's hard to beat any team when your pitching staff is throwing up junk to a mostly AAA lineup that should only be seen in batting practice.
  14. The only thing I can say to that is that we just don't know how many of those stolen bases were basically off the pitcher instead of the catcher. No way that I know of to really know for sure. I'm willing to give him benefit of the doubt until we get a better read.
  15. Yet another absolutely pathetic performance, at home, against an eminently beatable opponent! Physical mistakes (which are somewhat excusable), numerous mental mistakes, poor hitting, poor pitching, yada yada yada! This has gotten completely ridiculous and has become inexcusable due to its apparent frequency. Something drastic needs to change here and the sooner the better. Just wish I had a good sense of what the answer(s) is/are. Don't mean to be a Debbie-downer here. That's just how I feel right now.
  16. Unfortunately. The longer this total lack of offense goes on, the easier I find it to come up with an excuse for not even tuning into the game. Sad!
  17. I get the same experience living just outside Indianapolis. Indy is considered to be in the baseball "home" viewership zone for both Chicago and Cincinnati. Therefore, I am never able to view any games against the White Sox/Cubs and also the Reds, even on the Extra Innings premium package on DirecTV. Very frustrating at times, but I've learned how to live with it.
  18. Any guesses on whether this losing streak hits double digits? I think it's a 50-50 proposition now.
  19. I'd say "absolutely pathetic", but I think that goes without saying. Just when you think it's gotten as low as you can go, they find a way to dig the hole even deeper. If the overall pitching doesn't start showing some noticeable improvement soon, this will turn into a very long and dissatisfying season. Berrios notwithstanding, this pitching staff is a bona-fide train wreck.
