  1. Mere words barely do justice to the putridness on display today.
  2. Sadly, you're probably pretty close to the truth with that statement. The conundrum appears to be that with the expanded playoffs and with so many teams thinking they have a chance to sneak in, that there may not be many viable options available. Plus, many of those who could be available are probably going to require a king's ransom to pry loose. Not a good scenario to be facing for teams like us. Could be a da**ed if you do and da**ed if you don't type of situation. A no-win for sure.
  3. Very likely a realistic scenario. Just too weak at too many facets of the game to really expect much more this season. On paper, and IMO, both Cleveland and Chicago are clearly better teams.
  4. And that's probably optimistic, based on what we've been seeing lately.
  5. A skill we've perfected over the last handful of seasons. Sigh!!
  6. I will, as I've done in past seasons, keep coming back for more. It's just that the current circumstances, plus my agenda for tomorrow, don't make it very practical to invest much time in an otherwise potentially productive afternoon. Nothing more!
  7. As I've stated elsewhere, this team is becoming more and more difficult to watch with each passing game. Hence, I'm not planning to even turn tomorrow's game on. Largely because I don't want or need the aggravation.
  8. Situational hitting has been a team-wide problem for more than a few seasons now. We can clearly score runs knocking the ball out of the yard, but driving in runners in some other manner is highly problematic and their usual inability to do so is highly frustrating for us fans. While pitching in general, and the bullpen specifically, is IMHO still the team's biggest concern, I believe that somehow addressing that weakness needs to be done. However, how to accomplish that is up for debate and is something I don't have a good feeling for right now.
  9. The only problem for us is he's a lefty and has a discernable pulse. Therefore, he's almost guaranteed a spot in the bullpen.
  10. Not sure if that's possible, however, I believe a DFA is certainly in order.
  11. Hard to do a competent bullpen with a lot of guys who are mostly hit or miss types, and usually more miss than hit. We need a LOT more talent out there than we've showed most of the season thus far.
  12. Problem is more than half of the arms in the pen should only be used in low leverage situations. Not a good position to be in.
  13. Doesn't surprise me, due our agonizing tendency to play down to the perceived level of the day's competition. More often than not, it comes back to bite them in the hind end, like tonight.
  14. My thoughts exactly! Their chances of winning, even down by one run, are virtually nil. Absolutely pathetic!
  15. You mean Rocco, in all his infinite wisdom (??), decides to approach the next similar situation? I can hardly wait.
  16. It will likely keep happening until we get a major league-caliber bullpen. Unfortunately, we don't have one now and I'm not optimistic we'll have one anytime soon.
