If they would have waited, made him a qualifying offer, if he refused it - they'd get a 1st round pick - that right? Well, they didn't get a first rounder - typical Twins move - Dozier in the same category with a qualifying offer - they'll probably not get a 1st rounder for him either. More mediocrity!

Yeah - so - OK - 2 wins in the young season - Mmmmmm - My problem with the "breaking-camp-opening-day-roster" can be summed up in one question: "What's the plan for . . .?" What's the plan for Danny Santana? He's the utility infielder? - then who is Eduardo Escobar? He's the utility outfielder? - then who is Robbie Grossman? What's the plan for Berrios? He's already proven that he can dominate AAA - isn't time to get him in the major league rotation and let him pitch 6-7-8 games and find his way - or not? What's the plan for the bullpen? Where is the improvement? Oh, right - we're going to hope that 3 or 4 of these mostly retreads have a career year - hoping that again and again and again! What's the plan for spending $$$ on at least league average starters? We currently do not even spend up to the cap - why not? Hector? Oh Geez. Gibby??? Oh Oh. Time for him to fish or cut bait! Where's J T Chargois? Our best starter MIGHT be a #3 on any other team. I get that the new regime needs time to look over the roster and make some decisions after or during the coming year, but this is an all to familiar approach. I was at Wednesday's (4/05) game - couldn't have been 8K on the seats. Pretty sad for a MLB team.

In what universe does it make sense to give him the least number of possible PA's? ie. hitting #9? -

I'm with Thrylos on this one - I've never been a big Hunter Guy - seems to me he's really all about Torii - the press guysl ike him though because he's always quotable. Take their salaries out of the PR budget, and let's sign some that will help this team win more than 59 games next year!- 81 replies

My biggest problem with the Sano experiment is one of an historical perspective on how the Twins undermine the careers of "good" ballplayers in an effort to make them something that they have never been. Sending Sano to RF is a typical example of "the Twins Way" when it comes to hammering square pegs into round holes. Understand this: Miguel Sano is an infielder! He is a soon-to-be 23 year old (May 11) Dominican baseball player who has always played the infield. And he is a prodigious hitter! So the Twins take this 22 year old who is trying to break into the Bigs and put him in a position to fail. Read that again - they are not putting him in a position to succeed, but to fail. All young ballplayers struggle with their hitting at first. It takes a while to get comfortable with ML pitching, daily routines fitting in, the grind of day after day playing. So what do the Twins do??? Put him in a position that he has never played! Now that compounds his adjustment. Now you have a young player who not only is trying to make the jump to the majors, he is trying to make that leap while learning to play a NEW position! It opens him up to criticism by fans and writers (read here Reusse) who grumble about his size, work ethic, and ability. The point is - we are expecting Miguel Sano to not only learn to be a great hitter of major league pitching, but also to learn a new position; all the while exposing him to the negativity of being in the bright MLB lights while still learning. I'm guessing it has his head more than just swimming, he may be drowning!

Contemplating the Worst Baseball Team in History
NotTorii commented on huhguy's blog entry in Blog huhguy
For the past year and a half the Twins problems can't necessarily be blamed on cheapness - nope - it's a series of very poor baseball decisions, and still the major "decider" remains employed -. . . -

Article: You're Being Very Un-Dude
NotTorii replied to Shane Wahl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
All very true - but after 4 years of this foolishness, one can take the time to be "un-dude" like. I mean - how is this exciting? Does the front office realize that they are seriously in danger of fans enmass leaving the team? They are so predictable - every year they opt for older, more expensive, going no where players instead of young, higher upside, players. Really? Milone? Schaffer?? Pelfry??? Why not Tonkin, Myers, Rosarieo, Buxton, Sano . . . and what happened to Thielbar? I mean - a platoon in CF, and who starts against a lefty in the opener? Yep Schaffer who couldn't hit a little league lefty! AAAAARRRRGH!- 21 replies
