    Love this article. I have been talking about this for some time now. I think Paul is the type he will look into these stats and get a guy that will coach them. Pitching is about keeping guys off balance. If the hitter knows each pitch will be knee high they will crush it. The leaving pitch up stuff to me is stay away from upper thigh to waist, work the four corners of the zone and mix it up that will be effective.

    I would be okay with Molitor, but still think Doug would be the better choice. The only reason why I think that he has worked day to day with many of the new top guys over the last couple of years and knows them better than anyone. Also, he will be a blast to watch, when he fights the other manager, or will find that rights spot to sit on the floor of the dugout because it is lucky. If Molitor does get it over Doug I hope they bring Doug in to be a bench coach or base coach for the team. I think Molitor will be a nice change. From what I have heard it was him who started to get the 1980's style manager of Gardy to wake up and learn it was 2014. I think Molitor will use all the new stats and be much more of a Joe Madden type manager who can get the most out of players and not just follow the old rules of baseball, like always need opposite handed hitters for best match ups. I think Molitor will get the job though, but I will expect much more platooning and a lot more running as well.

    I think the key to what this shows the hard work that is needed, and how every moment you are either getting better or worse. As a coach of baseball myself I get so upset when I see players who are screwing around warming up, instead of working on their game. Gordon gets it. Truth be told I have not seen the Twins closely, but with the mentality of Arcia, that has the chicks dig the long ball mind set, I would not believe defense is top on his mind. I think this is a very important time in the franchise. We need to find the coaching staff that will teach the kids, and change the culture of the Twins. The article, or a comment maybe, mentioned we are a pitch to contact staff, which is true, but hopefully we change that moving forward, and appears to be in the right step with Hughes. The coaching staff should hopefully keep them going in that direction, Ryan seems to be adopting more of power pitching over pitching to contact with recent signings, trades, and drafts. Pitching and defense is the key to winning games.

    I think who becomes manager might have an impact on Plouffe's future. I could see being possible extra outfield and 3b. I would like to see more Escobar at 3b with Santana settling in at SS. I could see Plouffe filling in at 3b when either is hurt or needs rest, and going to OF when facing lefty and Arcia needs to sit. This all depends on what trades or FA are signed and injuries as well.

    My main issue with Arcia is his apparent unwillingness to get away from flying open and thinking every pitch is a fastball inside. Every left handed hitter should throw nothing but breaking balls away until he stops swinging at them. Sure he is still young but this has been going on for awhile. If he wants to be dead pull he needs to look for only inside pitches and leave the away pitches alone and take them.

    My question is why must he have a better walk to K rate? It would be nice if he did yes, and most likely will, but he puts balls in play and a lot have been for hits. If he was hitting around .225 and had that same K rate then I would say larger issue. Is he in the line up to walk, or hit and drive in runs?

    I would not be worried about his power at the league he in. It is not a power league. I am not worried about the kid at all. He is still young and may finally be healthy and figuring it out. Hopefully he goes to AFL and continues to grow and start at AA next year. Overall, the farm system is looking strong, unlike the past few years. We are starting to have more potential prospects then positions to play them at. That is a good problem to have, because not all will pan out, and some can be traded if need be to fill other holes. Surprised by Levi, I had written him off completely after having a third year at Hi A, but maybe he finally figured it out. I still put him as a utility guy at best, but they are important to.

    Here is hoping Buxton will bounce back fully. I would expect him to take the rest of the season off and start off fresh next year. Hopefully the concussion does not turn into a lingering problem, but many other players have had bad collisions with concussions and made good returns.

    I agree, what I like best is the effort and intelligence they played with. Neither were top athletes compared to Hunter or Jones and the like, but they did the best with what they had and worked hard. Normally those are the best type of coaches the ones that had to learn how to do well, not a just a given talent. I would love if Doug was next MLB manager, but having him teach the young guys is helpful too. He and Chad will teach them to always hustle.

    I wonder if the Red Wings make the playoffs if Buxton gets moved up there to get extra work in for all that he missed this year, or will he go back to Ft. Myers during playoffs to get his extra work in?

    The moves TR is making is reminding me of the late 90's moves he made that helped bring a nice run of years, all be it no world series rings. Trading away vets for young fringe prospects. Remember trading Roberto Kelly for Mays, or Dave Hollins for Ortiz. We are stock piling pitching prospects throughout the system, which can always be traded for position players in the future if needed, but really are needed for the depth because it seems no starter can go a year without missing at least a week here or there.

    I think it is more than just Worley and Lirino, they are just recent guys. It goes back to Kyle Loshe and the many guys that pitched better either before and or after they pitched with the Twins. Very few have had better careers, when pitching for the Twins than before or after. It sounds like we should just have a team of bullpen guys since that is all Anderson seems to make better pitchers. I think my biggest issue with Anderson is how quickly Worly got it turned around all because Pirates saw he was throwing like he was still injured and got him to throw like he did before he was injured. My guess is Anderson was like well you got hurt throwing the way you did before, so lets throw different so you won't get hurt, but your numbers will be terrible, however you will be healthy.
