  1. I had soured on him this summer, but had to rein myself in after forgetting he just turned 20 in June.
  2. As a former catcher that's how I was taught growing up playing the position...guessing those guys were as well coming up when plowing was still legal so I'm sure it's a small habit that will die hard, with the instruction possibly(?) not reflecting that rule change as well. Also, if they can catch 100 mph heaters and block 80-90 mph offspeed in the dirt from 60 feet away, I'm not worried about a majority of throws from the IF/OF. Even though they can't be plowed any longer, they still have to catch the ball and find the runner on a play at the plate.
  3. I'd give him Twins ROY soley based on the way he takes pitches..It looks like he almost wants to give the Mutumbo finger wave when he takes a close one that he knows is a ball. (Edit: I kinda wish he would #makebaseballfunagain).
  4. This pretty much says it all. Buxtons return will help a lot, but who knows how long he’s healthy...A Rosario trade is the only way they would bring in another starting caliber outfielder, but I don’t know any outfielder you’d get back would be much of an upgrade defensively, as the return centerpiece is probably pitching.
  5. I do wonder who they turn to for the #2 catcher...or #1B. I believe Levine did an interview (it might've been at the Baseball Prospectus event with Gleeman?) where the question came up as to why Garver didn't play more, and the answer was something to the effect of because that's what's best for him (correct me if I'm wrong TD).
  6. 100%...would much rather have one of those if not both. I don't know what it is, but I think they're getting Wheeler, just have a feeling. I think they should target a LH starter as well, MadBum/Keuchel/Hamels/Ryu, as that rotation is pretty RH heavy (would be interested to know how many rotations feature 5 RHP).
  7. I go back and forth on Gibson all the time. I'm with Aerodeliria in the belief that he still has something left in the tank. The E-Coli to begin the year, plus the colitis to end it took their tolls. Despite that, he still had a career best 9.0 K/9 I'm not too upset if he's on a cheap 1-year deal as your #5, but I also think he may be a great change-of-scenery-will-do-him-good candidate
  8. Kepler received a 5 yr/$35M extension with club option in 2024...Loving that contract, along with Polanco's after this year.
  9. Him and Pressly would've looked real good in this pen...Liked all their moves at the deadline last year, but that Pressly one was a head scratcher, especially with another cheap year before they had to make a decision on him.
  10. The Game 1 Bullpen usage was baffling...I don't know what else can be said on that front.
  11. I feel compelled to get back to commenting here after that mess of a series, as I basically read this site every day. 1. Totally agree, would love to see an ace or somebody close to or above Berrios-level. Would love to see Cole, but am expecting somebody like Wheeler. 2. The thing that worries me about 2020 already is how all these injuries will affect these guys going into the offseason, and thus, their ability to get ready for the start of the spring training and the season. In the first month of the season we have 7 games against the A's, 3 vs. Cleveland, 3 vs. Boston and 2 vs. the LAD. Not the easiest out of the gate if you're missing key parts.
  12. Just goes to show you can find talent at just about any point in the draft! Interesting note, I actually have two connections on this list. I played in Mickey Storey's conference (Atlantic Sun) in college with Campbell University. He actually no-hit us his sophmore season...dude was filthy. Cory Kluber, Daniel Murphy and Drew Butera were also in the league at the time with Stetson, Jacksonville, and Central Florida respectively. I also played with John Gaub in the Northwoods League for St. Cloud. Great guy, great arm!
