I wouldn't be opposed to offering him a minor league contract but it would have to be structured very carefully with clear goals and expectations. If he wants to toil away in the minors for a few more years (he's 29/30) that's fine, but he needs to do some real soul searching and strictly discipline himself if he ever wants to get back to the majors. He has the raw talent, but his inability to grow as a hitter and see the plate and pitches as well as control his impulses to overeat have torpedoed his career.
