  1. IIRC, the fun part of his hitting streak in every game he played was that it was multiple pinch hitting appearances, not just his debut. That shrinks the odds of keeping it quite a bit. But just him finally making it to the show was a great accomplishment in perseverence.
  2. Always enjoyed Bert, and I'd imagine it's his decision to retire. I loved that he wasn't afraid to critique the Twins players instead of just being a homer like most.
  3. Don't think I'd put Ben Revere on the list, but Lew Ford deserves consideration. And Bartolo by the time he was a Twin.
  4. Probably have to leave some room for any makeup games since every game could be three times as important. Unfortunately, the rain isn't going to have any extra sympathy when it comes to trying to squeeze the season into it's already tight schedule.
  5. 2005 they started 36-24, but only won 83 games and the White Sox won the division and World Series.
  6. Dan Serafini Jason Maxwell Marcus Jensen Danny Ardoin Jay Canizaro Warren Morris Javier Valentin That turn of the millennium era is full of guys to fill a list like this.
  7. I was a Shane Mack fan even as a Padre just because he had a 1985 Topps card with the Olympic Team. When he joined the Twins I was ecstatic even though I had no clue if he was actually good or not. Looks like he only played 20 games at AAA in 1989, so maybe the Padres gave up on him because of injuries. Lucky for the Twins, one of several Rule V gems they've found over the years.
  8. I might put Roger Erickson in there in place of Williams based on his 80s numbers, better ERA and Ks. Although his 14 win season came as a rookie in '78, so his W-L record wasn't too great for the 80s.
  9. I've always enjoyed that Lou Collins and Mike McGrevey have their jerseys displayed on the wall of Dorn's office in Major League 3 when he's the Twins GM. Fun movie crossover continuity.
  10. Damn 1994 strike, Kirby would've broke that team record going away. He had 112 in the 108 games he played with 49 left for the team. Could've hit poorly the last two months and still got 29 RBIs. Same with Knoblauch and the doubles record, he almost certainly gets 60 doubles if they finish the year.
  11. Kirby was going to get to bat cleanup that year. Considering Molitor and Knoblauch both batted .346 and Cordova drove in 111 runs knocking them in, Kirby probably gets at least 130 if he played. IIRC he had two hits off Greg Maddux in his final spring game. Maybe they play .500 ball and the franchise gets turned around a bit earlier than 2001.
  12. I don't have any of them, but I'd proudly wear a Pat Meares, Frankie Rodriguez, or Dan Serafini jersey.
  13. That would be a record, 12 teams have had four 30 home run hitters. 1977 Dodgers 1995 Rockies 1996 Rockies 1997 Rockies 1997 Dodgers 1998 Braves 1999 Rockies 2000 Angels 2000 Blue Jays 2004 Cubs 2006 White Sox 2009 Phillies Twins have 3 down and 2 close, Dodgers have 3 down and 1 close, Red Sox and Astros both have 2 down and 2 close.
  14. The Yankees got to play the Orioles 19 times vs the Twins playing them 6 times, so eventually things were going to even up.
  15. He's got a walk off winning hit vs the Indians on his Twins' resume so maybe that'll come in handy.
  16. Twins also played one extra game vs the Mets (2 home/2 road) while Indians only played 3 on the road. Twins went only 1-3, but Indians went 0-3 so actually gained a half game out of that.
  17. To be honest by the time we traded him last year I was disappointed to see him go because he seemed to finally get right after the rust from missing spring training. His success with the Yankees wasn't a shock to me. And even when he struggled last year, he did a good job beating the average teams that we are going to need to beat down the stretch this year. I've got more confidence in him consistently beating the Royals or Tigers down the stretch than Perez. Granted Smeltzer could probably do the same, but he's still a small sample size. I wouldn't want him pitching a one game wild card against the Red Sox, but that wouldn't be his job either.
  18. Sano might be home run or bust on offense, but I've been really impressed with his defense this year. Only a couple errors and has made some really impressive, and often times clutch timed, plays at third this year. He isn't taking his hitting struggles on the field with him.
  19. I'm guessing Dave Stevens just missed the list, he holds the Twins record for most times breaking his handing punching the wall after blowing a save. If he would've panned out, Aggie would've never had to go back to being the closer in 1997.
  20. https://onedrive.live.com/view.aspx?resid=F2E5D8FC5199DFAF!8063&ithint=file,xlsx&app=Excel&authkey=!AAAsz3uDsmqy_Vw Of the 12 public ballots already released, Johan and Johnny Damon are the only two guys still shutout. Clemens and Vlad are 12/12. Bonds is 10/12 but lost a vote from someone that voted for him last year, which is kind of odd.
  21. Guys like Quinton are why I wish you could have a 26th player during April. If he's even close to what he was hitting, you'd at least want him on your bench to pinch hit. But I don't see him beating out Nunez (who I'm a big fan of myself) or Santana for a bench spot, the only way is if they decide to send Buxton down and go with Santana in center to start the year and Arcia as the fourth outfielder/Nunez fifth if needed. I understand maybe having a defensive replacement for Sano, but if the game is still close, we aren't going to be sitting Sano anyway very often if there is much chance his bat has to come around again.
