Jack Torse's Achievements

  1. Guys like Gleeman were critical of not moving him. For the reasons pointed out here is why they couldn't.
  2. I don't know. Why wouldn't they just put him on the DL instead of making him struggle. Couldn't imagine it being very easy hitting in any league with a wrist/hand injury. Does exit velocity just simply decrease as a byproduct of a struggling hitter?
  3. "Ryan is likely to step down and take the heat off the organization for making a change at GM if an improbable rebound doesn't occur. But what will that change? It's not like he's going to be replaced with a different guy with a philosophy that isn't lock stock and barrel with the same Twins cliches. They are reluctant to bring in players from outside their ball team much less someone from the outside to lead the front office. Most of the players are not performing like anyone expected. Worse, most are performing well below expectations. They have a lot of young players in over their heads to begin with. Plus key injuries. It's kind of just that simple and given so much youth not that unexpected." My comment on the same topic last week
  4. Ryan is likely to step down and take the heat off the organization for making a change at GM if an improbable rebound doesn't occur. But what will that change? It's not like he's going to be replaced with a different guy with a philosophy that isn't lock stock and barrel with the same Twins cliches. 5. Back in my day they use to call SLU the "Princeton of the Pearl River". Now days they call it Slow Learners University. GO LIONS!
  6. As soon they get pitchers with velocity and better stuff they will start missing bats. Doesn't matter who the pitching coach is. Attacking the zone is a philosophy i guess.. Not just Andy's deal but getting k's more consistently is infinitely more dependent on pitching ability than pitching to contact, attacking the zone or who the pitching coach is.
  7. A mid-30's, a buy low and a forty year old. Surely there's a Zumaya or Harden to placate fans too. Nothing like a good hot stove.
  8. Where is the proof that Souhan was wrong or was ingaging in ridiculous exaggeration? None was provided in the piece. You stop short of calling him an outright lier so you must be refrencing something very specific. Was it a bone bruise? A little context to support your claim of his ridiculous exaggeration. please and thanks.
  9. I'm totally stoked that Molitor has been named manager. In fact, I was disapointed when Gardy got it over him a decade ago plus. When you listen to him over the years it's been obvious he has insights that most other people in baseball don't have. He's an athourity in his field, communicates effectively and respect flows to him. His colleagues and contempoaries rave about his baseball IQ. Oh, and he's a HOF and has experience in four different orginizations in different roles. I'm not sure you can be more pre qualified than he is. Is he going to be perfect? Nope, he's new to his job and like anyone else with a new job he won't be. He has every single pre-requisite you could possibly want in a manger other than he has never managed and has been overplayed as if he's spent the last 10 years on the dark side of the moon.
  10. I have no problem with Molly, obviously he's a baseball expert. He'll likely be about as good as his players playing for him. Just a statement of fact. What bothers me is that he was a leading candidate after TK left. It seemed like nobody else got a real serious look this time. The Joe Madden stuff was quite silly. I wonder if they pegged Molly as the next manager the day they hired Gardy. Love to see them think outside the box just once. Get ready Doug M. You're next.
  11. Terry Ryan is nothing more than an on-field p.r. mouthpiece for the tight wad pohlads. The Twins are run like other multi million dollar-cut throat coorperations..They just happen to be a baseball team. Their number one concern is always to sqeak out as much profit as they possible can....before all others.... make as much money as they can. All teams are like this to some extent. But it's the ownerships top priority here. It's in part why they have more money than most of us cant even wrap our minds around. They are friggin great business people. It's always a business and when they happen to be good is the equivlent to a stock dividend being high to the investor aka the fan. Or profit sharing to the employees. Gardy didn't get fired because they thought he suddenly couldn't manage the game or didn't shift or platoon or lost respect from his players. If that were the case he would have been fired years ago. He was fired to placate the shareholders..aka the fans. He was thrown under the bus. Ryan out-ranks him and for the time being is saved.
  12. Resign in tampa to go to Minnesota. Ialto coming! The vivid imaginations are like reading comedy. The 90 loss seasons, cold weather, bad players, and penny pinching owner may be too much for a repected mlb manager looking to upgrade to look past.
  13. It will be ok gentleman Mr. Law has over projocted many more prospects than he has under. A very safe answer from him and I wonder how many starts he actually seen as opposed to jumping on fan graphs. Mr. Hagler is right in that there seems to be something there with the the debth of Diamonds pitches. He pitches like he's 6'7". BTW Jack Morris had a k rate (5.9) below league average in 91 and nobody thinks of him anything but an ace #1 type.
