  1. Any word on whether the Twins will give Meyer the Johan Treatment? Or why it's not feasible to have him come up and get spot starts/pitch 3-4 innings at a time out of the pen?
  2. 4 years at $11+ mil per for a CLOSER? I know it's not my money and I shouldn't worry about it, but what a gigantic waste of money.
  3. Forget where I've read the discussion (I think Schoenfeld on ESPN has brought it up) but there has been a lot of discussion about how "working the count" and drawing a lot of walks isn't how you win anymore, because the Royals and others this season made a lot of contact or something. He then points out that the Red Sox won the WS last year and were like 2nd or 4th in pitches per plate appearance.
  4. The "crapshoot" argument has been around for a while because it is true. The best regular season team rarely (recently) wins the World Series. It wasn't invented to justify the Twins bombing out year after year, and it has been used to explain why the Mariners and Yankees missed WS wins in their amazing years and why Wild Card teams and the Giants keep winning.
  5. If the Twins hire Ozzie Guillen as their manager, I'll have to seriously reconsider my fandom.
  6. As of today, there are 12 pitchers in all of MLB who would have gotten Hughes' 210 IP bonus. Not sure why there's so much handwringing about Hughes getting pulled early and Twins not letting their starters go deeper into games--this is the way SPs are handled now.
  7. I feel like this has been the analysis on Parm for the last 3 years. I have no idea how "good" Parm is, because he hasn't done much, ever. Some of that is due to lack of playing time, but surely some has to be a sign that he's not a capable full-time ML player, no?
  8. If Buxton clears the concussion protocols and feels like he can play well, there's no reason to keep him off the field. i.e., if he's healthy, he should play.
  9. I think it'd be a good deal for him. Isn't 1 WAR worth about 5 Mil on the FA market? All they'd need is for Suzuki to be worth 3 WAR over 2 years. I'd like to see him backup more and Pinto or whoever start more, but that seems pretty cheap.
  10. Karabell also says Milone sent to minors and "he's really not that good, Twins fans"
  11. Rumors among ESPN.com experts that Suzuki and Twins are close on long-term extension
  12. Milone is also not a free agent until 2018. A 4th/5th starter type who's young and under control in exchange for a 4th OF? I'll take it. Kinda adds to the pitching glut though...
  13. I'm going to credit Gardy for getting Milone. Had he not insisted on Bartlet, one of our other 4th OFers wouldn't have gotten released and we never would have gotten Fuld. Congrats Gardy!
