  1. The article says the Twins are on a "Road to nowhere". The road represents the plan to sure up the roster through short-term contracts. I don't know how one could read the article and believe the author is saying the Twins have "no plan", as it takes the time to articulate the nature of the plan. The author is doing exactly as you requested, describing the plan as they see it, and explaining why it won't yield a productive result, instead leading us "nowhere". You also ask the author to stop assuming that no attempt has been made to sign players to long-term deals. Again, if you are able to read and comprehend the article, no such claim is made. In fact, the author states his belief that the plan has likely been to save to make the big splash sign. The author simply points out that has rarely worked out, which is a reasonable observation. They also acknowledge and give credit for some long-term signs that have come to fruition. They clearly did not assert what you insinuate they did. Also, "cherry picking bad contracts"? He mentions Nelson Cruz, acknowledged the successful short-term deals during the Bomba squad years. I appreciate the content on the site. I enjoyed this work, as I always enjoy the free content on TD, whether I disagree with an author or not. I probably wouldn't attack an author as you did. If I were going to, I would definitely make sure to read it and comprehend it well first.
  2. Pains me to say this, but I would be for trading Kepler, Arraez, and Polanco if the prospect return was right. I would have to get a great return to give up Arraez though. This team currently is not built to contend. We have options at 2nd base. I would explore the market for Gray and Maeda at the deadline. It is clear that the only way we will acquire a 1 or 2 starter is to acquire as many loto tickets as possible. It is reasonable to want to acquire talent to build around Lee, Miranda, Lewis, Kirillof, Larnoch, Gordon, Wallner, Julien, Martin, Rodriguez.
  3. Look at my post. I never said it shouldn't. In fact I said, "I can't say I blame them." However, I think for the sake of the game, baseball would want people to have a passing interest in it. Most of my students, including the athletes, don't know who the players are. This was as true in the Bomba squad year as it is now.
  4. I think baseball fandom is already a bandwagon phenomenon for young people. I teach high school kids and I have noticed over the past decade that kids no longer care about the Twins. Every year, I might have 1 or 2 of the 175 students I work with who know anything about the Twins, or MLB baseball in general. Even the kids who play report little interest in watching. They definitely follow the Wild, Vikings, and Wolves though. I can't say I blame them. I am also a devoted Twins fan. The Twins are hard to watch. I loved watching the aggressive base running and outfield defense in the early 2000s. Now when players dive for a ball or try to leg out an xbh (on those occasions the ball is actually put in play) I find myself dreading the days of rest or trip to the dl the player might need. I find myself not wanting them to play hard.
  5. San Fran learned upon the results of the physical that Correa is human. The degenerative condition makes it unlikely that he would be able to perform over the 13 year duration of the contract.
  6. I am a long time Twins fan. This is the first move they have made that caused me to yell "barf!" upon learning the news.
  7. Sorry Tom! Should have said no one is talking about it. I guess that is how you know the Twins had a good night at the draft though!
  8. The man hits for the cycle and no one seems to notice ?
