Phil Hughes had a short night on the mound sadly due to an injury. In the top of the fourth inning Chicago White Sox designated hitter Adam Dunn hit a hard ground ball up the middle. Phil Hughes was trying to get out of the way but the ball hit his right shin/ankle. Hughes couldn't finish the play because of the pain and Dunn was safe at first. After walking around the mound for a couple minutes the training staff advised Hughes to come out of the game. Phil Hughes pitched three innings and gave up two runs with four strikeouts before his injury. Hopefully the X-rays are negative and he can pitch his next start. With Kyle Gibson and Ricky Nolasco out with injuries the starting staff is diminishing and we can't lose another starting pitcher. Hope for the best because losing Phil Hughes could be big this season.
