Cris E reacted to a post in a topic: Rumor: Kepler Staying?

Prior to his first stint on IL from the toe injury, Max was hitting decent and his OBA was top 3 on the Twins. He did not have power numbers at all, but he was clearly working on beating the shift and was finding success before his season ending final injury time. What really hurt Max and the team was Rocco's insistence batting him in one of the power spots. By second half of season, it made zero sense but Rocco kept trying to force it. Before his toe injury, Kepler should have been lead off with Arraez batting second. This would have been like having two leadoff hitters for Correa and Buxton and gotten the Twins 6-9 extra wins. Batting order was definitely a key player in all those stranded runners. Rocco did not adjust according to what he had and misplacing Kepler in the lineup was one of the biggest mistakes of the 2022 season. I believe Kepler needs to adjust his batting stance since pitchers figured out to pitch him low with two strikes. He needs his swing range a couple inches lower and a wider stance would naturally do that.

Twins Make Multiple Vaccination-Related Roster Moves
RLTW894 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Thanks for clarifying. I do understand your point. I agree with most of it. Where I differ is when it comes to choice. If choice is allowed, you have to respect what one chooses for themselves. While I would agree it’s important to understand public health issues, the very same public health organizations have not made it mandatory. There is still much to learn about COVID-19 and the various strands that keep popping up. There is still much to learn about the approved vaccinations, and I say that knowing so far, it has been quite good. Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine, based on the adenovirus technology, that technology has been used and successfully completed the rigorous approval process, even if their specific COVID-19 variant only received the emergency use designation. The mRNA based vaccines all use a new technology that, while promising, had never been previously approved for mainstream medical use. At best, it has thusfar only been given emergency use approval. There is still much to learn about it. More accurately, it is at the vaccine stage where more needed to be learned about in order to successfully use the technology for it’s real money-making, world changing purpose - self healing therapies. In other words, the world is currently mRNA’s guinea pig, and it’s never been at this massive scale in history. While I’m not suggesting any conspiracies, I am stating that those who wish to choose caution, actually have a valid reason. Respect that.- 103 replies

If the measure of one’s intelligence is whether or not you agree with their choices, then it’s a truly pathetic world we live in. I tend to believe people have strengths and weaknesses and look to see overall the kind of human they are in spite of whatever flaws they may or may not have. I’m truly, sincerely and honestly disappointed that there are people who are so extremely judgmental over such small issues. If you are concerned about Max infecting you, go get vaccinated. Problem solved. Move along.- 103 replies

Do you not respect the choices of others? If so, then it’s part of life with Covid. If not, then, well, not sure what I can say to you..- 103 replies

Correa and Ryan won’t be in Toronto, either, from what I can find. They are all vaccinated and out due to COVID. It’s just part of life with COVID. Is this the only reason you think less of a person? Really? If it weren’t for COVID loss of players, we wouldn’t have seen Smelzer break out the way we have. It’s a huge deal for the Twins to find another solid starter. We will also get to see more young players get a chance to stand out. This is a really good thing if even one of them proves themselves worthy of being on the team, especially if they are a RP. I’m not worried at all about this series. Unofficially, Toronto’s best player according to WAR? Covid, lol.- 103 replies

Did the report say the five were all vaccination related? If not, then the SP might be Sonny Gray, who went on the IL for injury reasons.- 103 replies

Everybody missed 102 games due to Covid in 2020. Correa and Ryan, among others, have missed games due to Covid in 2022 and they are vaccinated. What’s a few more? Honestly, teams dealing with injuries and illness and life issues is nothing new. It’s part of the game. Time to move on.- 103 replies

Funny thing is, in an early article, Twins Daily begged people in the comments not to get political and to remain respectful to all sides. And then they went and published this article themselves… On a serious note, it’s a good thing Correa got vaccinated so he can play in Tor he is over Covid. I’m vaxed and have no issues masking. However, I actually do respect the choice of others. I honestly don’t care if others get vaccinated. Even the vaccinated are spreaders so that’s not even an argument. Let them do what they want. It’s their body. Me, I can’t say I’m protected, but my odds are much better that my symptoms will be less and even better odds I’ll survive the Rona.

The Twins Bullpen Is Teetering on the Brink of Disaster
RLTW894 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I’m going to make a prediction. The Brewers have pitching. They need bats. The Twins have bats. They need pitching. I can see a trade here. Even a middle-of-the-road middle reliever out of the Brewers bullpen would be an upgrade. The Twins would need to give up a lefty hitter and it would be a question of which one. I may be off on the team, as usually it’s the bottom feeders that provide the trades, but I feel quite certain that if the Twins maintain this lead after the All Star Break, the front office will go out and make a deal or few. There are already teams wanting to start the rebuild process. When you look at Duffey, Theilbar and Colon, their numbers are easily replaceable with a trade or call up. The Twins are actually in a good place. Before I’m willing to say this is a strong playoff team, I’ll need to see them play better against the top teams. If we can get most of the starters back for the Yankees series, it will serve as a good gauge where the team needs to improve. If the starters can hold the Yankees down for the most part, it will be a very good sign. -

Yes, you are taking a risk with Craigslist. Thank you for pointing that out. I understood this and was worried, but thankfully, every purchase was legit for me. Once you know a legit seller, you can reliably go back to that person if they offer other tickets. I avoided the expensive tickets that sounded a bit too good to be true and stuck with people selling cheaper seats. It also helped that for one game, the generous person was giving away tickets to veterans.
-
Every single game so far this year, you could have gone to the ticket window at the game and purchased seats together, even on opening day. Opening Day, the stadium had many people attend, but there were still plenty of open seats. No game has been close to selling out yet.

I live 1.5 hours away from Target Field. This is my first year as a season ticket holder with the 40 game flex plan. Yes, it’s pricey. But I was going to take my hard core fan teen daughter anyway. It’s our bonding time. With gas prices skyrocketing, that alone has added huge costs to what I’ll pay over the season. But there are ways to help save money. I use park and ride on the Metro. As a vet, I ride free and my guests also ride free (fine print says only me, but police always allow my guests to ride free, too. Thank you!) This also means no parking costs. If I park near the stadium, I use ParkWhiz. It’s often cheaper even with my season ticket parking discount. If I plan far enough ahead, I can usually find $5 parking close enough. You are allowed to take bottled water and packaged snacks. This helps save money with crazy cost of food and drinks at Target Field. I use a single compartment draw string bag that complies with rules. It saves a ton of money at the game. Low attendance is actually good for the bargain hunter. Buy cheap seats and move up to better seats. Don’t buy tickets from resellers! They charge fees that can double the cost of cheap tickets. Buy directly from the Ballpark app. This year, there are no fees. Otherwise, buy at the ticket window. You still need Ballpark app, but again, no fees. Last year, I also got tickets from Craigslist. This is good for better seats as you can find OK to good deals. Again, no fees if buying from individuals (Resellers also use CL.) If you know you are going to attend a bunch of games, season tickets really do make sense. You pay face value. You can buy smaller packages. You can share a plan with other people. The Twins encourage this and provide the online space to do this. You can also pay monthly. I bought my tickets in November of 21 and so my monthly ended up being over 10 months. There is no interest and no fees with monthly plan. The perks are really fun and cool if you haven’t done this before. My daughter loves doing the extras. If you follow other teams, you also get free MLBtv and can watch live games outside of your local area. Twins also offer standing room only monthly plans. If you know you are going to attend a lot of games during a month, it comes out to around $5 a game, no fees. It’s standing room only, but right now, you can find lots of open seats, even good ones. Attendants rarely ever check your seats, especially after game starts. If you are a student, you can attend many games for $5 and get free Metro ride to games. There are many ways to save money and enjoy the Twins. These are what I’ve done or know about. Get out and support the Twins. They are good this year and could have a great season. I even think they have a great shot at making the playoffs. With my season tickets, I’m guaranteed tickets at face value.

Local Contrarian Baffled by Slumping Buxton
RLTW894 replied to RandBalls Stu's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Obviously, I have no way of knowing, but I’m thinking Buxton’s knee is still bothering him. He should be rested and allowed to fully heal. Gordon and Celestino may not be Buxton at this best, but they are holding CF down when Buxton doesn’t play. Royce Lewis is being moved around in the minors to gain experience at other positions. I say even let him play CF to allow Buxton to fully heal. The Twins have options and that is good.. Take advantage of it. -
I’m a new Twins fan as of second half of last season. I got season tickets this year. I did the monthly plan over 10 months and there is no interest or fees. The extra perks have been a lot of fun for my daughter, who is the real hardcore Twins fan. Not going to say it’s cheap, but it’s doable. Twins also offer monthly standing room only plans for around $50 a month. The way the seats are empty so far, it’s super easy to find good open seats down below. Beer is not cheap, lol, but it’s a way to get to the games for half the price of cable per month, and you can choose what months you want it. You can also pool with others for season tickets and still get some of the perks. I also get free MLBTV with my season tickets. While it’s no good for Twins games with the blackouts, I’m also a Brewers fan and paid for MLBTV last year. With all these perks, and knowing I was going to take my daughter to the games anyway, it made a lot of sense. She loves all the extra perks.
