  1. For those wondering, Romero has knocked off 10 lbs this offseason, figured I mention it since someone said Bartolo Colon-esque physique.
  2. Sadly, I do remember Matusz being one of the games' top prospects (believe he was the top college arm the year he was drafted behind David Price), he just could never put it all together. The two just have alot of similarities: physique, clean delivery, handedness, stuff, repertoire, makeup, etcetera. Brian had a great fastball-changeup mix with a plus curveball, but as is the game of baseball everything did not click. Now Matusz is on his third team looking to stick as a longman/mop up guy/loogy whatever he can take.
  3. He says it's doing fine when I talked to him, just tried doing too much were his words. Some of you might hate this but I see a Brian Matusz comp for Gonsalves.
  4. If you go by their physical frames, Vielma doesn't have the body to "grow muscles", he's a lithe, narrow shouldered, small waisted kid. Nick at least has room to add additional muscle (and if you've ever seen Nick's dad Tom you know exactly what kind of upper half I'm talking about) to his upper half but neither is a ARod/Machado sized 21yo
  5. I think some of you are confusing COMMAND and CONTROL. They are two distinct entities. CONTROL of one's pitches is the ability to throw strikes and get the ball across the plate, Stewart has that. COMMAND is the ability to throw the pitch where the catcher sets up, Stewart lacks that. Stewart's still young and can still grow and learn but he's looking more like a #4/5 starter in the mold of a Carlos Silva type.
