  1. What really is the point in rehashing all that has been wrong with the various Twins starters this season? With the exception of Hughes they have all led to the highest starters ERA in all of MLB. No point in bringing back any of them as that will result in the highest starters ERA in 2015 too. No thanks to that in my mind, it is time to bring up the kids full scale, they can easily do just as poorly, can they not and also they will work cheap which is how the Pohlads want the organization to operated anyway, is it not?
  2. As I have said before should not a lot of the blame for the Twins poor record over the past four years be put squarely on ownership's shoulders especially when they PROMISED to spend more money on the franchise and then failing to deliver on that promise?
  3. zchrz - terrific response, it will be nice when the entire organization moves into the 21st century, won't it?
  4. I do not know about the fact that the Twins let Springman go as being a problem and/or solution. I doubt that very many young players today in any organization listen to anyone as far as trying to improve their games in any aspect of MLB. Part of being young, how many of us have truly listened to our mentors and teachers over the years? Hicks is one prime example of this. He has decided in the past to decline playing Winter ball, has any other Twins' minor leaguer done so as well? To me that should be part and parcel of their employment. In fact anything the MLB club desires of a player should be carried out to the fullest extent. Elementary in my mind.
  5. Granted that the Twins were facing a lefthander Thursday night but with the team going nowhere in the standings Arcia should have been in the lineup, the more practice he gets against southpaws the better he will be. Unless, of course, management only intends for Oswaldo to be a platoon player for his career. Which to me would/will (?) be a huge mistake. Totally it is time to let ALL of the young kids play in September, why not?
  6. A good farm system as mentioned here does NOT translate automatically to a good MLB team in a few years, time for a lot of us to put aside the rose-colored glasses. And time to get realistic about exactly how management intends to cobble together a decent team in the years to come. Commenters in this forum are far too easy on Twins management both in the front office and on the field. And we are even easier on ownership who promised to spend more on the on-field product and have not even come remotely close to delivering on that promise.
  7. If the proposed 2015 rotation is close to fruition all I can do is yell HELP! That is another year of a + 5.50 ERA and another 90+ loss season that accompanies such a ridiculous starting five. If any other team in MLB attempts that sort of rotation they will be welcome to join the Twins in another last place finish and perhaps even have a shot at 100 losses. Is that really something to be looking forward to? I sure do not think so.
  8. The way Meyer and May are being handled is also just a prelude to how Stewart, Berrios, etc. will also be handled. Is it a prudent course of action for any MLB franchise and which other team is handling their young pitchers in such a manner? I am not attempting to be snarky here, I sincerely want to know. I posit that the Twins should be treating their young pitching prospects exactly like the MLB team that is most successful at it. Sure seems like the way to go for me, how about the rest of you?
  9. Vargas at first base in 2015? Hardly a sure thing I would venture. Please advise.
