Sadly, I must admit I'm moving on from both the Twins and MLB. I have little hope for the future of MLB. The situation with Correa is just a symptom of a much larger problem that is unlikely to be solved IMO - I frankly didn't think signing Correa was a great idea for any team at the stupid price he commands in the current league structure. As for the Pohlad's, they won't see another penny from me until they commit to wholesale change and demand changes to the league itself. If nothing is done to require competitive balance it's lights out for Twins and MLB. Sad. The game I loved is literally dying before my eyes.

Nice write up, Sherry! So fun to finally see Winder go to work. Using the potential future starters in the pen seems like such a no brainer, yet the Twins so rarely embrace that. I realize they were somewhat forced to do so this year, so let's hope they see the value in it. Also really enjoyed the sidebar info on Nick Gordon in this post. Indeed, it's been so fun to watch him force himself into the lineup - again due to external influences, so seeing him flourish compared to expectations has been really gratifying. If he can raise that batting average just a few ticks he'll have a great opportunity to be a solid super-utility (and may allow us to use him or Arraez as trade bait, though I don't love the idea of dealing Arraez). Makes me wonder, since his family predecessors were major leaguers, if he's actually more prepared, from a mental make-up perspective, to perform better in the big leagues than in the minors. Zero expectations of him during his call up last year, and man did he make his case! Edit to add: And oh man is it fun to see Buxton emerge as a leader! He's working the clubhouse AND the fans. I didn't see it in him when he was a youngster, but as he's matured it's become crystal clear that he's a natural leader. That's great news for this team.

Should Byron Buxton Shift to Designated Hitter?
deanlambrecht replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yep. Exactly. And more than that, it's clickbait and does not meet the criteria for good journalism. -
What To Do With Miguel Sano
deanlambrecht replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think you just missed the "Cut him" section of the article, which perfectly explains why the Twins won't be able to send him to the minors. Bottom line, he's out of "options," which means that we can't send him down without exposing him to other teams.- 65 replies

The Case Against a New Shortstop for the Twins
deanlambrecht replied to Theo Tollefson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Much prefer to sign a baller shortstop and trade Lewis or Martin for pitching. Pohlad’s will never let that happen, I’m afraid, so we’ll go this route and continue to not compete with the pro teams. (Sorry, I’m grumpy today, and I have little left in the tank for this team…)- 18 replies

My only quibble is April. I think Colome blowing the save in game 1 sums up the entire month very well.

Grading Rocco Baldelli’s First Losing Season
deanlambrecht replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think this is quite right. And anyone who thinks the pitch counts aren't mandated by ownership is kidding her/himself. Pitch counts amount to insanely big savings for owners, period. That's why they're enforced by Rocco and literally every single other manager in MLB. -
Marwin Gonzalez Addresses Media, Expresses Regret
deanlambrecht replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm not entirely sure, having not reviewed the MLBPA contract (I'm a criminal defense lawyer, so contract law understanding is essentially confined to law school for me). I also haven't seen Gonzalez' contract or any other subsequently signed player participant's contract. But it seems to me that the contracts the players subsequently signed could be voided as they were bargained for based partially on fraudulent statistical data. Hell, Gonzalez has a career season, admits to cheating, and it seems to me the Twins should have a right to recovery. Any contract attorneys on this site able to chime in?- 120 replies

Feels like with this and Torreyes we're still just bottom feeding. I know we only need a short term solution but still, frustrating. -

Um, okay. Gene Glynn is our third base coach. And he seems to be particularly bad at it, so I cannot even begin to endorse bighat's notion that he should be interim manager.- 41 replies

Article: Miguel Sano Optioned to Ft. Myers
deanlambrecht replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I hope they make him earn his way back up through every level. The guy could not be more lost and look less like a ballplayer than what he's shown us this season. Edit to add: here is mlbtr's take, which provides a little bit different/more context: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/06/twins-option-miguel-sano.html -
Well dang, Seth. Karen and I were in CR for Friday's game, too! Wish I'd have known, I'd have looked for you Regardless, surprised you didn't highlight Kirilloff's excellent night at the plate. 2 for 3 (unless one of his on-bases was based on an error - I see you have him 1 for 3) plus a HPB and BB. Solid fielding, to boot. He was really fun to watch. I'll post some pics when I've got a bit more time. Got some shots of Kirilloff and Lewis at the dish.

Article: LAD 6, MIN 5: Uff Da
deanlambrecht replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I like the deadline approach Levine stated, with the caveat that I think they should lean much more towards sellers than anything else. This roster is simply not built to compete against the teams that we know are stocked, nor is it just a matter of more service time for the roster to improve.- 33 replies

Article: ESPN's Keith Law On Smart Baseball
deanlambrecht replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Moon Palace is about a mile from home, and a great bookstore. Anyone going tonight should get there early to shop around. If you need coffee, Peace Coffee is next store and is an excellent coffee shop. Finally, there's a little art-house movie theater next store; Trylon Microcinema. Check them out. It's fantastic, and if you're at all into film you'll want to get on their email list to see the killer film schedule they have. Regarding the Keith Law event, I'm super bummed I can't make it. My niece and nephew have a piano recital tonight that starts at the exact time. I can't tell my family I'd rather go to the Keith Law event (I would - I love my niece and nephew but I've been to all of their recitals and will go to many more!), as it's most likely a one-off opportunity. Anyway, I bought a book last night, wrote a nice little note for Keith Law, and hopefully the staff will be able to convince him to sign a copy for me tonight. I'm jealous of those of you who will make it, but have fun!!- 5 replies

Article: What Do We Know About Derek Falvey?
deanlambrecht replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I, too, was somewhat disappointed when the hire wasn't McLeod. I liked McLeod based solely on pedigree, however, so I wasn't exactly hardcore bent on him. Not knowing much about Falvey I was skeptical. I worried that he was a kid who had been loyal to the Tribe and would perhaps be a Pohlad "yes man." That notion clearly had little basis in fact, and this write up makes me rather optimistic. Thanks Nick, as always, for gathering the information required for Twins fans to make informed conclusions about the team and its' players and personnel.
