  1. As a "cord-cutter," I haven't been able to watch the Twins since 2019 anyway, so I am all for any movement towards making it easier for folks like me to be able to watch the Twins. They don't even currently have plans to have the Twins as a part of their Bally's Sports + streaming app...
  2. Is there a reason I am missing that the Veteran's or Senior Committee hasn't enshrined Jim Marshall? Seems like a no-brainer to me...
  3. NBA League Pass is only $99 for a full season (I paid $49 on Black Friday) but also has the silly local blackout rules. I might pay double if I could watch the Wolves too. Like Vanimal said, there should be different price points. All MLB (including local team) Local MLB team & MiLB affliates Local MLB team only Annual price vs monthly price Ad-Free option
  4. Devin Smeltzer has signed a minor league deal with the Marlins with a ST invite. $1M if he makes the majors. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/01/marlins-devin-smeltzer-agree-to-minor-league-contract.html
  5. Very likely he isn't ready, but I'm hoping Julien wins the job in ST. Would love to have his speed, OBP, and power in the lineup.
  6. I continuously see the point being made that "Lopez is only a #3, do we really need more #3's?" I for one welcome the added depth to the rotation if it means no more trotting out pitchers like Bundy, Archer, Chi Chi Gonzalez, J.A. Happ, Matt Shoemaker, etc. It's a good thing to have solid starting pitching depth... No doubt Arraez's bat will be missed, but I think his production can be replaced relatively soon by whomever steps up out of Julien, Lewis, Lee, Martin.
  7. Vikings announce that they have dismissed DC Ed Donatell.
  8. Not sure what Phillips does exactly as OC, but that's on O'Connell. He's the play caller.
  9. According to today's MLBTR Chat, Garlick cleared waivers: 2:11 In addition to Lewin Diaz clearing waivers with the O's today, the Twins just announced Kyle Garlick and Oliver Ortega cleared and will be in camp as non-roster players. I thought Garlick had a decent chance of being claimed somewhere, given the power against LHP.
  10. Teams like the Marlins (or Pirates, A's, etc) are not going to trade young, controllable pitching assets for a 30 year old Max Kepler. Even if he's better than anything they currently have. They'll trade those assets for young, controllable prospects like Wallner, Arraez, Larnach...
  11. Max will turn 30 before the 2023 season starts. At this point, he is what he is......Above average defensively in the OF, but now on the wrong side of 30 and has a .232/.317/.427 career line. 2019 appears to be an outlier. Don't think we're going to get anything special for him in a trade. Perhaps the Twins keep him 1 more year, but might be time to see what Wallner, Larnach, Martin, Celestino can do in the lineup.
  12. Pretty cool that he'll be teammates with his brother!
  13. According to this article (https://theathletic.com/4024212/2022/12/21/agent-boras-explains-correa-giants-mets/) from Ken Rosenthal, Boras indicated that they had given the Giants a time frame to execute the deal and could wait no longer.
  14. I just don't know what purpose he serves. LH hitting corner outfielder, poor avg, poor OBP, a TON of K's. 11 million?!? Signing Sano to a incentive-based 1 yr deal would have been less perplexing.
  15. I'm fine with Kyle Farmer keeping the seat warm for Royce Lewis. Just not sure what to do with the remaining available budget space. Not a ton of intriguing FA options left at ANY positions.
  16. The wheels on the bus go round and round... The Carlos Rodon question continues to persist, with the starting pitcher being linked to several teams, including the Twins. Dan Hayes of The Athletic went as far to imply it's likely the Twins will end up with "one of the Carlos", whether that ends up being Rodon or Correa. Of course, teams like the Giants and Yankees are also in play, which is terrifying in this spend-happy offseason.

  18. Patrick Murphy (https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/murphpa02.shtml) https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/12/twins-patrick-murphy-agree-to-minor-league-deal.html Jose De Leon (https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=deleon008jos)
  19. Done deal per Jon Heyman. 3 years, $30 million.

  21. I think our ceiling is getting blown out in the NFC Championship against (at) the Eagles, but it seems increasingly possible that we drop a playoff game at home.
  22. I'd be surprised if we can even get very much for Kepler. Outside of 2019, he's been very pedestrian at the plate. Sure, his defense is good in RF, but he has NO interest in playing CF. Given the Twins' need in CF last year with Buxton out for extended time, Kepler played a total of 9 innings there.
  23. I'm convinced that no matter what happens there are going to be plenty of unhappy people. Correa signs with the Twins - "Why did we commit so much $ and so many years to 1 player?" Correa signs elsewhere - "Cheap Pohlads strike again!"
