  1. What you seem to be failing to take into account here is the fact that the Latino population in the US is listed at 18.5% while the percentage of Latinos in MLB is 31.9%. Since the last time the African American percentage was above 17% (17.2% in 1994), the percentage of Latinos has gone up 14.1% while the percentage of whites has actually decreased as well.
  2. I definitely would NOT hire him. The game has passed him by. He has appeared unwilling to adapt. In today's game you have to be willing to shift and not always bunt when you have a runner on second with nobody out. He's had more than enough chances. Let others who are willing to adapt have their chance.
  3. The bottom line is that if somebody is naive enough to base their opinion on what an athlete, actor, entertainer, etc. says about a certain topic, they probably have bigger issues.
  4. Mike's question was a bit ridiculous because other than SF, there's no other city ever his views would've affected his free agent process.
  5. Are you trying to say that you think the percentage in 2015 would be drastically different?
  6. 47% of voters in MN in 2012 agreed with him. It's not like what he said is something so completely outlandish that 95% of the state of MN disagrees with him.
  7. I was referring to when he "doubled down" on it by answering the question in the press conference. That would have been the act of doubling down on it. He has every right to endorse a candidate if he so chooses, just like you have every right to vote for the candidate you want and go out and publicly campaign for him/her.
  8. If you feel strongly about something, you obviously are going to double down on it. Newflash: athletes are going to say some things you don't agree with just like the rest of the general public. Given the platform athletes have, if you're scared of what an answer may be, don't ask the question.
  9. We get that and your line is when an athlete says something or has beliefs that you don't agree with. It must be extremely hard to be a sports fan today.
  10. It's very odd how because certain people have a disagreement with Hunter's take on something as controversial as gay marriage they have to turn this post into bringing up other athletes who have actually been charged with something. Torii Hunter, guilty of having a different opinion than you and saying things you disagree with. What a terrible individual! Give me a break!
  11. It's odd that if it was child abuse, he still has joint custody.
  12. That's never going to be a decision that has to be made because I don't see the day where it'll ever be known publicly that an athlete murdered multiple people and is still playing. This whole thing is just ridiculous. Take a step back and realize that you're trying to compare a murderer to somebody who spoke out on a topic that you care deeply about and has a different opinion than you. That's crazy!
  13. Well we'll agree to disagree then as I'll cheer for Peterson. Hernandez is terrible comparison because it wasn't publicly known that he had murdered multiple people when he was playing.
  14. I'd bet any amount of money the ovation he receives isn't any different because of this.
  15. You're starting an extremely slippery slope if you're going to stop cheering for any athletes that have ever said anything you don't agree with. You may be best off just refraining from watching sports if that's the case.
  16. I guess the biggest question is whether or not the Twins will have enough patience with him to find out.
  17. Exactly and most people are able to separate athletes' performance on the field and their personal lives. There's a reason when he's announced at all these anniversary celebrations, he typically receives the loudest cheers. Similarly when they start to bring back Hunter in the future for different appearances, he'll be the one receiving the biggest standing ovation.
  18. Well if he had a higher OPS then he must have been much better right? Glad you see we're using sample sizes of 58 at-bats too. Why limit the sample size there. Doug Bernier had a higher OPS than either of them so he must be better than both right?
  19. I'm pretty sure Hunter has more than enough people who think highly of him as evidenced by all of those reaching out either via social media or through the media with well wishes on his retirement. I don't think it lost him too many friends.
  20. Disagree if you want. There's plenty that don't which is why the majority of people are able to look past his opinions and personal beliefs.
  21. Hahahaha yeah Arcia is going to exceed those numbers alright. He has one chance left with the club. He certainly isn't exceeding those numbers next season.
