According to 1500 ESPN's Phil Mackey, the Twins are considering Rich Harden for their bullpen. The Twins would prefer to use Harden as a starter, but his role remains to be seen after missing the entire 2012 season due to shoulder surgery. "He has done both," GM Terry Ryan said. Rockies acquired LHP Jonathan Sanchez from the Royals for RHP Jeremy Guthrie. It's a swap of bad contracts that makes sense for both sides. The Rockies receive $1.1 million of salary relief, while the Royals might actually be upgrading their sorry rotation with the addition of Guthrie. It's not clear if the Rockies plan to put Sanchez in the rotation or in long relief.
