  1. I didn't say a blowout, just said scoring 10+ runs. Scored 9 the next day btw I agree a 10 game winning streak would be better. I don't have much confidence in management either, hopefully the starters keep telling Rocco to stay in the dugout. Thanks for contributing
  2. Hey everyone, I'm back with my thoughts again. I am a Twins fan, but just a very frustrated one. So here we go - I love the trade deadline moves. A lot of people think the Twins gave up too many prospects in the deals, I think they got Mahle, Lopez, and Fulmer for the right price. They didn't give up any top 5 players in the system and 1 borderline top 100 player in Spencer Steer. They have control of Mahle and Lopez next year also. I like getting proven players that are young and under team control for prospects. - If any of you follow me on twitter ( @troykell2 ), you may have seen my displeasure for the way Rocco has handled the pitching staff. How Rocco pulls Bundy with a 2 hit shutout going after 65 pitches is beyond me. The bullpen cannot pitch everyday and be expected to be effective. -Emilio Pagan is still on this team and put into high leverage situations. Nobody knows why. He has been literally the worst relief pitcher in baseball for the last 3 years. Aaron Gleeman put out a great article about him today on The Athletic. I hope it was because of us all asking why he is pitching every time he blew a game. - Maybe if they kept the starter in the 3rd time through the order more often when they're rolling they wouldn't burn out the bullpen so bad. I think analytics has gone too far in this case and in the long run it would be beneficial to have the starters go 80-90 pitches even to keep the bullpen fresh. - Miranda has been as clutch of a hitter that they have on the team. The guy has George Brett vibes. I loved how Correa went to management and told them not to trade Miranda. That's leadership even if he wont be back next year. - The team is due to put up 10+ runs soon. The last time they scored 10+ was June 27th. Since June 1st they have given up 10+ 9 times and scored 10+ only twice. Baseball has a way of evening out for the most part. - Speaking of evening out, the Twins are owed a win or at least a second chance at a win after the horrific OVERTURNED call against the Blue Jays. I don't really know what Sanchez was supposed to do in that situation other than what he did. I thought it was a textbook play and somehow they overturned it. I'm very glad Rocco stood up for his team like he did, I think that's the most emotion I've seen out of him. - I still think they're the best team in this division this year. Cleveland would be about 6 games back if Pagan didn't blow 4 against them earlier in the year. Hopefully Rocco has learned his lesson and they go on a run. Go Twins! Troy
  3. My bad. I wasn't trying to start anything. I've seen so much negative stuff about Buxton and I think the average fan doesn't get what he does. He's already worth 17+ million this year. He is all world in my eyes. Buxton, Trout, and Judge are on the same level. Go Twins!
  4. Since 2019, the Minnesota Twins are 124-73 (101-win pace) with a +233 run differential when Byron Buxton plays, per @PaulHembo. In the 203 games he hasn't played, Twins are 94-109 (75-win pace) and -97. In his last 162 games, Buxton has 8.4 WAR. The definition of impact player. -Jeff Passan I can explain the impact Buxton has on this team to you, but I can't understand it for you.
  5. Back for a winning team. Let's get into the first month and a half. - Buxton is all world and the Twins got a hell of a deal on his contract. Games played matters obviously, but the production outweighs the risk ten-fold in this situation. - The Taylor Rogers trade sure looks like a big L right now. Paddack TJ surgery. Pagan has been decent. Rogers leads the league in saves and has a .52 era with 15k in 17.1 IP - Duffey has been bad. 93 and straight isn't fooling anyone. I'm not sure if his fastball used to have more movement but right now it is straight as a string. his curveball has great motion, he just leaves it up too often. I would like to see him out of high leverage situations for awhile. - Correa is getting a little too much hate for my liking because he had a slow start at the plate like most of the league. His D at short has been gold glove worthy and his bat has came back. Anyone saying trade him and start Royce at SS needs to watch a little closer. - Speaking of Royce, I think his comeback to baseball in general has been amazing. I am very happy to see all the work he has put in pay off with success in the bigs on his first trip up. I could definitely see him taking over 3rd for the rest of the season. Miranda needs more AB's in AAA. - Celestino passes the eye test. The kid can play in the league and looks a whole lot better than last year. It might just be a confidence thing or the experience from last year paying off, but I think he has earned a starting spot. I also like Gordon as the main utility guy. He looks like he belongs too. - Joe Ryan has been exceptional. I think he has legit ace potential and he has pitched that way so far this year. I was at his first start at target field last year and sat a section over from his people. It was a great time. That's all for now. Let me know what you think! Troy Kelley
  6. Tony&Rodney- Thanks for the input! While Seth will tell you Rosario is fun to watch play baseball, which he is, Rosie is not a smart player. He has made so many mental mistakes this year including basic fundamentals like throwing home instead of to 2nd with 1 out. Per Dan Hayes (@DanHayesMLb on twitter) from a couple days ago. Before he made a pair of fantastic running grabs in the alleys tonight, Byron Buxton was already worth 10 Defensive Runs Saved. As of tonight, his wRC+ is 129. And the #MNTwins are 25-12 when he plays and 9-10 when he doesn't.
  7. - Kenta has been an Ace so far this year. I'm pretty sure the Nationals had Scherzer, Strasburg, and Corbin. They went up against Cole, Verlander, and Greinke. We need Berrios and Pineda to be dominant. - Buxton has been the player all the Buck truthers have hoped. He has 10+ defensive runs saved plus 13 homeruns. He is the MVP of the Twins along with Cruz. - Rookers injury hurts this team. He came up and played really well. I Think it is too late to call up Kiriloff which is unfortunate. - Taylor Rodgers has been inconsistent and seems to have lost confidence. I would like to see Duffey in the closer role. Rodgers or Clippard are the best options for the 8th. Overall I have confidence in the bullpen with Alcala's heat, Romo's junk, and May, Wisler, or Stashak. - I really hope Cruz and Arraez can be back fully for the playoffs. The lineup isn't nearly as good without them when you have to put Rosario at DH and have a bat like Cave or Wade instead of Cruz. Marwin has been taking better at bats lately but would much rather have Arraez at the plate. - The umps have been really poor. Cruz got kicked out for the 3rd time in his career, Rooco booted, and Donaldson. A lot of people bitched about Donaldson getting kicked out in that spot. I loved it. Everyone said it was selfish, I feel like it was anything but selfish. He was standing up for all the nonsense those umps were calling. He stood up for his teammates after hitting a bomb. He's the man in my book. He would only have had 1 more at bat in the game with no one on if I remember correctly. Glad he sent a message that the club isn't a bunch of pushovers. - Jeffers has earned his spot as the #1 catcher this year. He has hit very well and his pitch framing is great. Garver has been up and down, basically hasn't gotten into a groove. Avila is a ok left handed compliment but I would start Jeffers as many games as he can handle in the playoffs. Let me know what you think! Troy Kelley
  8. Yeah I agree tony&rodney. It's wild that it hasn't happend in the 10 years of Target Field. At least that I can recall. I hope they review and change that in the off-season.
  9. Troy's Twins Thoughts - Jake Cave has no business being a regular replacement on this team. He ranks near the bottom in all categories and offers no upside. - Call up Alex Kirilloff already. He isn't getting real at bats in St Paul, let him come up and play ahead of LaMonte Wade Jr. - Brent Rooker is ready and able to replace a guy like Cave in the lineup. He has had better at bats and overall looked better at the plate than Cave and Wade. - Rocco needs to stop resting perfectly healthy players. I'm sure Buxton and Donaldson wanted to play. - La Tortuga is fun and had a nice hit today, but his defence as a catcher was horrific. 2 passed balls that may go down as wild pitches, but totally changed the game. There's a reason he got pulled. - Rosario's baserunning mistake in the 5th changed the game. No reason to try for home with 0 outs in that situation. Great try on the HR by Castro. - I really don't know what to think about the non ground rule double in left field. The ball hit in fair territory, then hit above the wall in foul ground, then came back into fair territory. I really don't see how that is a fair ball. I think the rule was put there for the overhang in right field. Let me know what you think! Troy Kelley
