  1. why not both.....Diamond is proving many correct that he was a one year wonder & has regressed to his 2011 AAA numbers & Mike Pelfrey can leave anytime & whomever is the replacement is a step up.
  2. kinda like ;Bastard Boy Floyd' one
  3. Lannan seems like a perfect Twins fit.....soft throwing control-like pitcher who doesnt strike out guys but walks too many!!!
  4. I agree with the top 3 posters.....dont get that attitude out of Trevor at all. He's looks like he will be a low average, power hitting type of 3B who's on the low end of defensive ability. Does that mean he should have the position locked in for next yr....absolutely no. If they can upgrade, go for it.
  5. Barring trades....(assuming like everyone that Capps is released). I see the pen bein Burton/Swarzak/Burnett/Perkins/Duensing/Robertson taking up 6 of the 7 bullpen slots to start the yr (Robertson may be on bubble). Im not a Burnett fan as I favor more Ks in the pen & think he's been doin it with mirrors (better than not doin it). Gray & Perdomo (will be DFAd IMO (Waldrop on severe bubble of it, esp if not recalled in Sept) and Manshop & Walters are out of options & could/should be released to protect younger players. Doesnt bode well for guys who will be back like Casey Fien, Oliveras or Guitierrez who will end up in ROC. The wildcard is Blackburn. Will they keep him solely due to salary. If not, he will join Sam Deduno/Cole DeVries to possibly contend for a 5th starter spot....Sam is out of options & Cole will be back in AAA (if kept on 40 man) Diamond is the only 'sure' thing. I think they will resign Scot Baker to a better deal, as hinted in last wks Mpls Tribune. Kyle Gibson will start in ROC to monitor innings but I think barring a complete collapse in spring training, Liam Hendrix will also be in the rotation. So will MN acquire 1 or 2 starters in the offseason. If its 2, that takes care of the 5th starter possibilities (Maybe Deduno/DeVires is 7th pen/long relief guy). I created a small firestorm last wk by predicting that MN will stun everyone & resign Carl Pavano. I absolutely wouldnt, but it is the Twins way to say he's as good as any veteran out there--if healthy--and get him more cheaply than a normal FA.
  6. dont think anyone can trend the numbers into anything positive about short season ball. Matt Summers, BJ Hermsen & Liam Hendriks are about it
  7. watching the game, this is the way I percieved it also. Just another play where Casilla doesnt do the correct thing but goin to the base & just allowing himself to be tagged. Did a good job allowing Span to get to 2B, but then screws it up. Its alwasy something with him......he's actually played pretty well this yr if you discount the BAve (fielding been great).
  8. Derek Rodriguez to ELIZ is a no brainer as he's a 2nd yr guy playing well Niko & Keplar to Beloit for the same reason.....think Harrison & Adam Walker could also. Rosario & Sano...dont think MN is sold on em. Roberts is overdue Pinto to New Brit for sure....not sure of Hauser now he's starting, but he should MN considers AA the top lg for prospects, so I only expect Watts/Pugh, Bromberg again. Hirshfield is already in ROC. Hicks/Hermann/Arcia are all Sept callups straight from New Brit Only new AAA promotions to me are Guerra & probably Duduno
  9. 6-16 isnt the right stat as they lost 5 of the next 6....since starting 7-21, they 28-24, which is a .538 winning percentage---same as the White Sox (who everyone says is a below average team). Another fun stat....Texas leads the major leagues with a .617 winning %. If the Twins, with 82gms left, play at that pace....they finish with 86-76 record. As bad as CHI has been to lead the division, if they play ONLY this bad in 2nd half, they also finish with 86 wins. Winning the division is out of question IMO.
  10. Do agree with the save situation.....unbelievable that you manage to accumulate stats. Rest I dont have a problem with. Stolen base credits could be a reason that they numbers are down in steals from past decades.
  11. severely disagree with the numbers. Casilla wont get more than 2m...Duensing/Burton 1.5...Burnett/Butera 900k....that's 6.8m NOT 20m. There will massive amounts of money to spend IF they want to. AGAIN, its not about spending money....but rather to spend it wisely.
  12. Yes to both.....michaels im fine with where hes at.....these guys need to be challenged
  13. think Rick Anderson is one of the biggest reasons for the decline in the team. Hate him. Guys dont respect him & players get worse pitching for him.
