  1. My point is that he’s not an upgrade, Mike. At 27, he doesn’t really qualify as a prospect and the Yankees, even with a glaring need at first, gave him up for Lance Lynn. He’s not the solution.
  2. I could clarify which are Mauer’s and which are Austin’s, would that matter?
  3. 104, 115, 99 103, 98, 108 OPS+ of Joe Mauer & Tyler Austin the last three years. I don’t get all the love for Austin. If he’s the primary first baseman, he’s going to fan 200 times. This board will be sick of him by June 1.
  4. It isn't necessarily giving up next year to blow it up and start over. Picking up all these power hitting corner outfield/first base types and plenty of money to spend. What if FO actually knows what they are doing?
  5. I didn’t realize you could have a single digit OPS+. Loved the commentary.
  6. The last prediction I made was that Tsuyoshi Nishioka would establish himself as a mainstay in the Twins lineup. I'll leave the predictions to guys smarter than me!!
  7. But Ox, you are not 22 years old. Your point isn’t lost on me, but your experience is what gives you the opportunity to put things into their proper perspective.
  8. If you are right on the type of prospect(s), absolutely. Somebody has to start.
  9. I really get frustrated with Rosario bashers. In 122 games last year, in his age 23 season, he had 18 doubles, 15 triples, 13 homers and 11 SB. I don't understand all the defensive stats, but he passes the eye test to me, albeit my aging eyes aren't what they used to be. I'll grant you that he strikes out too much and walks not enough, but it seems to me that he has more than earned a lot more respect that many of the posters here want to give him. He's earned the playing time he's getting with the Twins and I expect that the Twins will won't be replacing him anytime soon. Come June, if Rosario is stinking it up, I'll be ready to jump ship, too. Until then, even if he struggles in spring training, he's a starter and should be given some respect.
  10. I know that feeling, Lefty. I really hope your are wrong, too.
  11. In 2014, Abad had an ERA+ of 238. It isn't like it has been five years since he was pretty good. We're not asking him to close games. If there's ANY truth to the pitch tipping angle, and it can be fixed, there's no doubt in my mind that Abad could be a useful BP pitcher.
  12. As a rookie, he became the ninth Twin in history with double digit homers and triples. I think that the talk of Rosario going to back to AAA is premature. I'm not saying it can't happen, but he'd have to be abysmal to get sent down and I don't see that happening. I hope I'm right.
