  1. I have more confidence in Rocco holding a closed door team meeting to sing Kumbaya than I do his doing anything to push the right buttons or light a fire under the team. Rocco is who he is.
  2. Perhaps I'm over simplifying things. But right now, the Twins bullpen has three major league caliber arms. Rogers, Romo, Dyson. Then you have three other guys that may or may not be major league caliber depending on the day - May, Duffey, Thorpe. Then you have the AAA+ pitchers that have been jettisoned to and from Minnesota all season long. When I look at the Twins' offense, I see one that's capable of winning a World Series. When I look at the rotation, I see one that could come through in a best of 5 series especially if Berrios and one of Ordorizzi and Pineda are on their game. When I look at the bullpen, I see one that is the weakest among the AL contenders and one that would have a really, really hard time surviving the Yankees and Astros. To me, that's incredibly disappointing and speaks to lack of urgency or commitment from the Pohlads down to the front office.
  3. Dyson is a nice add but not enough. There was an opportunity this summer. And I don't think they took advantage.
  4. Can hear it now... Close on several deals but nothing materialized. Stashak is as good as making a trade. Cody Allen is close. Sergio Romo was the top rated reliever on their board.
  5. Pohlads are cheap and Falvey and Levine are adept at placating the media and communicating the company line. There is zero emphasis on winning.
  6. By their own admission, they would make moves when the championship window is open.
  7. Cannot wait for the spin. And I'm sure the local media will eat it up. Look for positive stories about how Littell, Thorpe, etc are better than what was available via trade.
  8. That's ok. They can just use the unlimited budget to sign free agents. Oh wait. If they are so poor at trading to the point when ownership has last confidence, they shouldn't be employed.
  9. The Yankeea and Houston don't have to make any moves to beat the Twins. That's the difference.
  10. Nor should they. I'm over the excuses and the close but no cigar moral victories that they keep trying to sell to the fans.
  11. They're optimistic. LOL. The spin starts. Thought they had something close and then it fell apart last minute and they didn't have enough time to pursue other deals. Wait for it.
  12. Sigh... Beyond disappointed. Can't wait to hear how the poor Twins were only met with unreasonably high asking prices while other contenders had no such issues.
  13. If that happens, you have to wonder what Falvey and Levine would have done to justify keeping their jobs... 2017 - they cut bait with a team too early and it turned into Major League. Trying to win despite the front office not thinking you can. 2018 - a step back. 2019 - total collapse / choke job. Then again, when ownership is this stingy and disinterested, I guess it doesn't matter who runs the front office. Figure heads.
