  1. I've seen both here and elsewhere suggesting Odorizzi signing a 3 year contract. I don't see it happening, this is his one real chance to sign a relatively long, lucrative contract. I'm betting he gets a 5 year contract, though a 4 year one with an option at the end also seems quite possible. Edit: And if for some reason it is a 3 year contract it's going to be more like $20 million a year not this 15 I see suggested as well.
  2. Could be either that or the player is conditional upon Romo's appearances or performance. Yours strikes me as more likely.
  3. Those charts are pretty pointless to judge Darvish by. Your not isolating the guys who dominate at their peak from the ones who manage to put together a few decent season during that time frame before their decline kicks in. Including Nick Blackburn in the same dataset as Yu Darvish isn't going to tell you much.
  4. Not that it ultimately matters but I know for a fact May would like to have another crack at starting.
  5. Would've preferred a 2 year deal as I'm not sold on Molitor but it is what it is.
  6. Between the improvement from last to this year and the success down the stretch leading to the playoffs the optics would've been too terrible to not bring him back.
  7. And without the best defensive CF in baseball he would've been burned twice as badly. Fact of the matter is Santana was terrible in the first and still bad in the second inning.
  8. I don't question starting Santana in the slightest, bringing him out for this inning was dumb. 1 game winner take all is the not time to show faith in your veteran who's struggling.
  9. Evidently Ervin's not comfortable then as there hasn't been a whole lot of strike throwing thus far...
  10. Berrios is a starter, you put him out there and count on him to do what Santana was supposed to. 11 pitchers are active for a reason.
  11. Santana better not be out there next inning. This was not a case of just a few bad pitches or impressive hitting from the Yankees, Santana just looked like garbage and its not like he really settled down after the homerun.
  12. It was a strike but just like you're liable to get a favorable call if you hit your catchers mitt when it might be a bit outside the zone when you miss your original target completely its likely to be called a ball.
  13. I don't even think its an error. Going into July 31st the Twins were 3 games below .500, in 3rd place in the division 6.5 games back. For the wildcard they were 4.5 games back and had 4 teams between them and the final spot with a cool 5% chance to make the post-season. Advocating buying is essentially like advocating lottery tickets as a good way to make money. Cautious selling is 100% the right move.
  14. Seeing Erik Lis on that list is a blast from the past. I vaguely recall there being several posters on BYTO who thought he was going to be the next big thing for the Twins.
  15. Just stumbled on to this thread and what a blast from the past it was. Word filters are probably the thing I miss most from BYTO. Also shout out to Brock for getting me into the second game ever at Target Field, was a good time.
  16. Littell is pitching significant better at AA as Mejia was at the same age. I'll take waiting an extra year in favor of the higher upside. Think you're underrating Enns as well. He's definitely the throw in but he's pitched well at every level and does a decent job at missing bats. I'm betting he contributes next year.
  17. 5 games back of the WC and 7 of the division while below .500 and outperforming our Pythagorean does not bode well for a playoff push. Things were different when the Twins were just a couple back but now was the time to sell pieces that wouldn't be here next year. Good trades and the Garcia one in particular could help the Twins compete as soon as next year.
  18. And he's swinging at less stuff outside the zone, that metric has decreased every year. Still on the ugly side but steady improvement. You let him play out this season at the very least, way to early to think about giving up on him.
  19. Would be nice but the team has been too cheap for that. Expect very little to none leftover.
