TwinsFanLV's Achievements

  1. Don't care about how Target Field was or is financed. It s part of a much larger problem permeating MN government and politcs. Justin Morneau would be still be more valuable as a left handed pinch hitter than 21 other players on the roster, even if that was his exclusive role. Morneau (any player, but Morneau especially based on his concussion history) should put his own health and well being ahead of his baseball activities. He needs to live with that body the rest of his life. If his concussion symptoms return, I sincerely hope that he simply walks away from the game and is able to live a long and happy life with his wife and family. Best wishes and no hard feelings. Nobody really cares about Mauer's contract. Once again, it's not OUR money. Mauer and his agent negotiated the best deal they could for Mauer. Good for him! Money aside, wouldn't each and every twins fan like to see Mauer take a more vocal and visible role on the team? When he signed the contract, he accepted the role as "the Face of the Twins". Even good or great players have moments when they fail. Wouldn't it be easiert to admire Mauer, (or Span, using last night's example), if he stood up and accepted resonsibility when he failed? Bottom of the Ninth, down a run, bases loaded, two outs, Span strikes out?? Shouldn't Span at least have been quoted saying, "it's my job to win the game there. I din't get it done, I failed my teammates, coaches and the fans. Ill try harder and get the job done. next time." Has Mauer ever been quoted as promising to try harder or do better? We are drowning in stats. avg. obs. ops. W/K . PDQ. VCR. SAT. etc. The only stat that matters is wins! Mauer's contract isn't the problem, it's his attitude.
  2. Kneel: Are you traveling for business or pleasure?
  3. J-Dog. My memory is intact. The Twins have won one playoff series since Ryan took over the GM seat the first time. Ryan, Smith, Gardenhire all must go! Boycott Target Field!!
  4. Darin: Amen, brother! Step one is to Fire Terry Ryan Immediately!, then hire a GM with the backbone to clean house. Should the Pohlads fail to fire Ryan, we need to spearhead a Boycott Target Field Day.
  5. No bubble, here. Just want more wins and fewer excuses. Gardenhire can go bowling with Dennis Green, Mike Tice, Clem Haskins and Todd Richards. 10-2 in the sixth! Beer at Target Field should be free whenever the Twins give up 10 runs. That might hit the Pohlads in the wallet.
  6. One Eye, Still worrying about your well being. Please take care of yourself. My point is that he Twins lack any toughness. I acknowledge that professional athletes occasionally fail on a physical level, but failing on a mental level is inexcusable.
  7. Silver: Do you remember Frank Viola pitching to contact? Do you remember Hrbek literally pulling Ron Gant off first base with a tag? Have any if the current crop of Twins ever shown the grit to make that play? I'm happy to consider people from outside the organization. My pint remains: let's ease try a different approach!!!
  8. One Eyed Jack: If your standard is what fhe rest of the league is doing, go root for the Mariners. My point is that "The Twins Way" hasn't produced a championship in 22 years. Let's give something (or someone) else a try. You're reference to me personally, or my "boyhood heroes" only reveals your low self image. Are you in therapy?
  9. Excellent post. I have a greater expectation for Mauer to execute than I do, Plouffe, for example. I don't mind Capps getting beat by Ross. What I can't stand is how Twins pitchers routinely allow bitters to dig in without ever facing a pitch that makes them move their feet. Does "the Twins Way" include never knocking anybody down? Didn't somebody bit three home runs in a game against he Twins at Yankee Stadium and then do his post game interview in a pristinely clean uniform? How about forcing a batter to dust himself off, once in a while?
  10. The Twins are 22 years without a Championship in a 30 team league. Yes, it's reasonable to change course. Yes, it's reasonable to expect better results. What's unreasonable is to keep doing things the same "way" and expect better results.
  11. Molitor declined the job, in part, he was going through an ugly divorce. There's more status in being a manager than a broadcaster. I forgot to mention Al Newman, Randy Bush and Gene Larkin.
  12. If that kid has the backbone to fire Gardenhire and the coaching staff, sign him up for the GM job!
  13. The Twins are 5-12. Terry Ryan has brought this team into the 2012 season woefully unable to compete at the major league level. Doing things "The Twins Way" or "The Terry Ryan Way" isn't working. No hard feelings. The Twins should clean house and simply try something different. The new GM should start by firing the entire field staff on Day One. How about starting a list of managerial candidates? Hrbek, Molitor, Carew, Smalley, Laudner, Or my favorite, how about Dan Gladden, a guy with 2 World Series rings and a little bit of fire in him?

  15. How many different ways are there to perceive 5-12?
