  1. I've always wanted to ask him to describe in detail what he meant by an "inside-out swing" and "He got good extension on that swing."
  2. No doubt that Buxton can hit a fastball. Question is, can he recognize a breaking ball let alone hit it, particularly the one 6 inches to a foot off the plate?
  3. There's little wonder that Kiriloff "knows how to hit." Unless I'm completely off base, he's the grown-up version of the little home-schooled kid I saw seated at a school desk beside the batting cages at the facility his father owned outside of Pittsburgh whenever I took some of my players there in the off season.
  4. First time I saw him at bat in spring training and saw all 4 infielders on the right side of the field, I thought to myself, Oh, Oh.... this can't be good.
  5. I'd like to see Granite succeed, I really would. (And not only because I like the name) However, the kid's got a swing that must make every hitting coach that sees him say, "What the fugoodness sake is that?" Whether or not it can hold up at the major league level remains to be seen.
  6. Some years ago, when I was teaching and coaching at a prep school in Western PA, I would take some of my ballplayers to a baseball training facility a couple of times a month during the off-season. More often than not, when we got there we would see this little kid seated at a small desk doing his school work. I don't recall what he said his name was, but he said that he was being home-schooled and that his father owned the place. Little did I know at the time that he would turn out to be the Twin's number one choice in the 2016 draft.......
