  1. Gordon will make the team, and it’s pretty clear they view him more of an outfielder than infielder. Starting Larnach at AAA is fine as he’s hasn’t yet proven he can stay both healthy and effective. And let’s be honest the odds are pretty good someone will get hurt before opening day.
  2. The coaches should give him every opportunity to earn a rotation spot in spring training. The front office should NOT assume he will get that spot. If he does it’s a bonus that deepens the pitching staff.
  3. It’s not really that surprising. Both are too old for a rebuilding team to want them. And not good enough for any contenders to pick them up.
  4. You’re gonna be hard pressed to find a player after the first round without some flaw or concern.
  5. Kepler’s offense doesn’t make sense to me. His approach at the plate and his swing looks like a guy who should hit .270-.300 with solid power. Yet he always ends up hitting like .230.
  6. They all got past through very later in the offseason, when most teams 40 man rosters are full. And yeah they’re not studs by any means, but the depth is nice. It also wouldn’t be crazy for something to click with one of them and develop into a solid BP piece.
  7. Blankenhorn won’t get cut. Gotta think it’ll be Gibault or Tortuga, maybe an outside chance it’s Smeltzer or Thorpe
  8. I think the goal this front office has is to create a team that is always somewhat competitive without rebuilding. Then the hope is that everything will come together one season and we win it all. Honestly I would prefer a competitive team every year over a team that wins it all and then sucks for 5 years straight.
  9. Having good quality depth is extremely important. Most years a pitching staff will have a lot more injuries than the Twins did in 2019. And having guys be able to come up and pitch at a average level is huge.
  10. If we can’t get any of the top starters and I’m the Twins FO I would resign Pineda, trade for at least a #3 starter, and sign a lesser starter (preferably one with some upside). That rotation should be good enough to get a playoff spot, and we can hope to trade for an ace mid season again.
  11. It’ll be interesting to see what the Twins do for 1B this off-season. If they don’t bring Cron back they could move Sano to 1B and then that opens up more playing time in the IF. Plus there’s always injuries so it will be nice to have Gordon available to fill in if needed next year.
  12. Sure but if someone at any other job breaks an “unwritten rule” you don’t deal with it by punching a nearby co-worker. It’s stupid that what Cave did is frowned upon, and even more stupid that they hit Kepler for it.
  13. I have no problem giving Adrianza more starts with either him or Gonzales playing first. But Cron should still play at least 3 games a week and hopefully he can start hitting like he did the first half
  14. The Twins ERA is 8th best in the majors. And I’m pretty sure we don’t have the 8th most talented pitching staff. So yes I do believe that the pitching coaches are competent.
